i couldn't help to notice this page while lookin at the contest winners. I hope the owner doesn't mind posting it after what happened to him. http://www.clan-316.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi how did they manage to hack the ubb? and how can i be safe from that? i spent a lof of time on my ubb i hate to see it get messed up like that.

It's more likely of someone guessing FTP password because the user used SSI and many errors not related to UBB showed up.

I doubt it will happen to you, but just to be on the safe side, regualarly save backups of your scripts and forums.

I agree with DaLunatic always have backups of all your cgi and images maybe Member files to.

I'd actually save backups for everything. Members files, posts, images, all of it. That way, if you do get hacked, you have a pretty updated member list, the forum posts will be back and all images will be restored. It would be like nothing happened...

So if you have the Memberlist back and your Member files are a little off date, It will automatically update them?
