If this is a typo, then grab them before they fix it. Dell has 1GB sticks of PC100 for $19.99

Does your PC use up to the amount it can? Like can your 512 slot use up to 512mb of the 1gb stick?

I ordered 5 gigs for 89 dollars including shipping. My server can use 4 of them. My dev box at home(WinNT) can use the other one, and my lil Win98 game machine can use the 2 256 dimms that I will have left over from my dev box. smile. that will still leave 2 256 meg Dimms left over for something.

That is.... If Dell comes through with my order.

Before you go hopping in and installing that, you do know that all Win9x (inc. ME) gives you an insufficient memory error if there is more than 512MB of system memory installed. However, Win2K will accept more than 512MB.

Why do I have a feeling this is Printer memory..? If so it doesn't have the same error checking as System memory..

dell has taken the price down, as it was obviously a typo. now its time to see if they will follow through on this or not. i would imagine a LOT of people ordered these, as its been posted on some major tech forums around the net. btw pricewatch has theses for something like $249 - im willing to bet if Dell follows through thatll be dropping like mad as people sell these on auctions and such smile

I bought five... smile

But, as I was closing my browsers down, I found another one open in which another five were in my shopping cart... laugh

We'll see if Dell does follow-through on these, as the "confirmation" email also says:

"Thank you for ordering from Dell. We are delighted to have you as a
customer!
We are currently reviewing the order information you provided."

It goes on to give the order details like you have seen above, but that last sentence has me a little concerned.... we'll see how it turns out... smile

Hey Chris!

"Dear Dell Customer,

Thank you for choosing Dell for your recent software and accessories purchase. We regret to inform you that a vendor error created erroneous price quotes for the Kingston memory product that you ordered, Dell part number 695695-4. The problem has since been corrected, but as a result we
are unable to fulfill your order. All orders that were affected by this issue have been cancelled, you will need to resubmit an order for any additional products that may have been placed during this time."

I just got the same email.

I wonder about all those people that counted on those orders to fulfill ebay auctions. Shoulda waited till they had the memory, eh?

Really? I just got my order confirmation! My memory will be here in two days. Apparently those who ordered 3 and under got it honored. Those with more were considered resellers and denied.

The price of RAM has been dropping greatly as of late, but if someone was selling 1 GIG of RAM for $20 they would have to be insane. smile
