I have ran many different beta versions of this os on my computer and a few different machines and I must say that the current version I am running is awesome. I have only noticed a few quirks on this version but that is due to the fact that the video card drivers are not installed on these two machines (there are no xp drivers currently)
Machine 1
500Mhz Pentium III 384MB Ram 5GB HD
Machine 2
800Mhz Pentium III 384MB Ram 20GB HD
This is the setup at my work with a dial-up internet connection sharing turned on (urg)
I have 3 printers networked and it is running awesome.
My quirks include My palm cradle going weird... Upgraded to palm desktop 4.01 and it worked after that.
Microsoft Outlook 2002 Forgetting some contacts in the contact database.
That was on machine 1, machine two was a flawless upgrade.
Both were upgrades, it is recommened to have clean installs but i was lazy.
When I went to go through the W.P.A. online registration said i exceeded my limit. When I called Microsoft two minutes later I was activated the codes you type in are loooong.
Overall I am very impressed WMP 8 seems pretty sweet and compresses WMA files very small and they sound good, I think I am gonna stick to MP3 VBR for right now.
I am running Build 2517 currently (Post RC1)
I will probably be running RC2 monday or tuesday.
I'll let you know whats going on.
If there is an interest in info on previous builds I might report my experiences.

I've had one of my machines manage to stay on for around a months (pre-RC1 code)...now thats pretty good considering we've been using it for gaming, modelling, watching movies and all sorts of stuff. It's meant to bring the compatability of win9x to winNT, and it does, quite well in fact. There are a few bugs with it...only a few though It's not finished yet, so for beat code, its pretty neat. Overall, this will prolly be the best OS by Microsoft. (btw, if you are annoyed by the design of it, you can change it to the 'standard' style as in win9x or 2k)

Allen: October 25 is the release date for Gold, provided they don't screw something up or X-Box doesn't get in the way. Sally: Couldn't have said it better myself. I *so* wish they would have stuck with the original Whistler style. Ah well, hooray for WindowBlinds XP. ---Skorpion

I'm surprised there have been no pro-Linux, anti-Microsoft replies to this thread. Quite a nice surprise, seems like whenever discussion forums bring up Microsoft the pro-Linux flames start. I too am looking forward to XP. I use Win2K on my work laptop and have been very happy with it, though I do have non-recoverable resource drains as I do in Win98, so I generally shutdown every night.

I ran Win2k when it first came out and then went back to win 98 due to some applications not being compatiable with it.
Do you have Service Pack 1 & 2 installed?
If not it is like a 100MB download.

XP has the NT kernal (doesn't it?) so i'd imagine it supports (and prefers) NTFS. Just a thought

It supports FAT32 as well as NTFS and yes it does prefer NTFS 2 to 1 in taste tests.

John, you can choose to use the classic interface (Looks just like Windows 2000) instead of the Luna interface (or any of the others as well).
I'm downloading RC2 right now. Hope to have it installed tonight sometime. RC1 just didn't like my computer(Immediate STOP error right before first boot after installation), Beta 2 was fine.
