PLEASE! I need some help with my members. I bann them, but they come back. Everything would be fine if I could ban them. They are on 56K so each time they reconnect they get a new IP so I have to readd them each time. HELP!

Ban the first 3 sets of numbers.
If your users IP is 24.147.231.18
ban
24.147.231

If that doesnt work use 24.147.23

you can't do anything about it... besides shut down your site... there are always ways of getting around it.

Hey ALLEN. You get some spammers and flamers here don't you? I see your member count and member numbers aren't exact so you have deleted/banned members before, how do you do it?

Set registration so it has to send them the password and don't allow more then one of the same address and instead of banning them just turn off posting privilages.

I do that too tech-ni-kal. But then they will get a new e-mail address and forge that. Then they re-register and do it all over again.

you can always moderate registrations for a while.. and just don't send them their password.

You could also Shut down Registrations and only open them when someone has contacted you to register. And then he'll go away. Well If he can get different IP's It will be hard to keep him away.

Wow! You either have some serious enemies, or some idiot needs to get a life.

Unfortunately, there is always the potential for problematic users. Any website or forum is going to attract a wide variety of people, from all walks of life. How you deal with them often will reflect how people perceive you.

What is important for you, as the Admin or webmaster, etc. to do is maintain your site with a clear set of guidelines and policies that your users can follow. Once you have estabished your board rules, then use your "friends", to help carry out those policies. Enlist the help of your Admins/Mods and Board Regulars.

Be professional and courteous when resolving situations. Try to be as non-confrontational as possible. You need to gain the trust and respect of your members. Don't try to do *everything* by yourself. It singles you out and makes you an easy target for those who disagree with you.

You and your board staff need to show a united front. Build community, and even your newer members will get on board. And most of all, they might start to like you.

One thing I leant by being a Admin is to be friendly, Being mean in the boards Public can result in not just the Person your being mean to, But his friends on the forum too.
