Yesterday, the admin building of ACU (the college I attend) received a great big long letter that contained several allusions to Anthrax and that the letter might contain it. It never mentioned the name specifically, but there were a bunch of abbreviations of things that were similar to the technical name of the bacteria and other references to it (that's the way I understand it at least). We were on CNN at one point, I know. FBI is still out doing testing on the letter to see if it was actually infected. But our ad building has been shut down since about noon yesterday and several people have been possibly infected if in fact the letter did have Anthrax in it.
So, um, I have a question: What exactly does Anthrax do? And how fast does it do its work? The letter we all got from the ACU president said anyone who may have been infected should bathe very thoroughly to get rid of it. But everyone on the news is making it out to be the worst thing since unsliced bread, so I fail to see how a good shower will actually get rid of it...
Great time to be alive, ain't it?

Skorp, I believe if it goes untreated it can be fatal BUT... from what I've heard, if it's caught early it can easily be treated with antibiotics. Worst case scenario, they may test everyone and put some people on the antibiotics as a precautionary measure. Keep positive thoughts.. and good luck.

Its a very toxic substance, that usually is fatal if untreated.
