Version 6 News: As I write this, UBB version 6 b7.4 is being made ready by the good folks at Infopop. A few adjustments involving the cache to improve speed is looking good so far. Our own observations with v6 have shown continued improvements in cpu load and reduced resource requirements. Reminder: Only 10 more shopping days remain to enter your site in our monthly member spotlight contest. This is the last one to be conducted before choosing our grand prize winner from the first six honorees. A thread has been started in our Modified UBB Showcase forum for entry. UBB Site Index: Submissions are going well in our member's site index . Open officially only a couple of weeks, we are now up to ~150 sites indexed. Add your site today.

coming from an "ex-admin/moderator" with only 26 posts, I take all that as a compliment... We would not be where we are today had you stayed on as an admin... Thank you...

Man, I wish I had Allen's ability to be politely sarcastic and insulting and nice all at the same time Guess I'll just stick with being odd..

Eon -
I'm sorry to hear that you don't respect what is going on here. I can assure you that we have only gotten better (our stats and our member's loyalty is a testiment to that.)
Folks, we may not be the most popular kid on the block. We may not even be the most good looking kid on the block. However, little Eon, we are the biggest kid on the block, and we didn't get that way from sitting back and blindly following status quo. This site was forged in revolution (for those of you who remember UBBCHH,) and our history stands proudly as a symbol of our success.
We are proud to say that, with the exception of a minor few, the vast majority of our members are not only dedicated (and registered,) but also VERY loyal. Thank you all for your dedication.

bout my posts: many of you kitties dont seem to remember the whole MASS DELETION of peoples profiles, that was when i left, so i dont seem to have a lot of posts. allen and the rest, ive got respect for you and most of the other mods and admins. its digital boy i have a problem with. i just wanted to point out that while becoming the 'biggest' site on the block, you lost a lot of what made you good. the member spotlight thing is nice, but what happened to the freeware ubb sections? and whats with showing peoples passwords while you carooze through profiles through the control panel?
this will be my last flame, in the future il take it to email. i just wanted to point out to the masses that this site has lost much of what made it good in order to appeal to a larger audience and make more money

You have been gone a while... I think it was October when it became against Infopop's policy to modify the freeware ubb in any way. We can assist if they need some help in installing it, but nothing can be changed. It was pointless, and increasingly against IP's license, for us to even have the freeware forums open. I do not understand what you said about passwords. It is standard in v6 to be able to see a user's password in the cp. It's not something we publish tho. As for the posts, we all suffered a large loss of #'s of posts, sometime in July. In the 7 months since, we seem to have recovered nicely. As for the last sentence, it's almost too funny to respond... If you know about the cost of a dedicated server and the payout of banner ads, you would know I am open for donations to take up the slack... Good to see you around, if you decide to upgrade to a full version, we're here to help.

i definately have been gone a while, and no i dont plan to ever upgrade to the full version of ubb. i still think that the forum should have been kept open for people with older freeware versions, but since i checked over at ubbhackers.com and they took theirs down too, i cant be TOO mad... (but it cant be against the rules for someone with the older version to mod theirs because they didnt sign the new liscence) as for the password display, last i checked it was a hack. when was it set as a normal feature? i am strongly against it because of the security and privacy threat. if someone finds the admin password, blammo, everyones password is compromized.

I still don't understand what you have against me. I am not the only decision maker around here. ALL decisions that are made at UBBDEV are by majority vote. Therefore, slamming me is basicially like slamming the entire staff.

i never said they were doing a bad job. ok, well i did. i take it back. there i said it.
ive checked back several times. i left because of time constraints and also because i lost interest. i havent written anything new or even looked at my ubb for several months. i was planning on writing a private forums hack for the freeware, but never got around to it. (did anyone ever do it,btw?)
well, this will probably be my last post for a while, time very valuable and since theres no freeware anymore, im gonna bounce. peace.
