I've come up with an idea for my website and I know there are probably a million ways to accomplish this. (This doesn't include UBB but I'm sure I could get some interesting ideas from the good people of UBBDEV)
I want my users to be able to create their own board (not UBB, something that takes less space and server bandwidth like a simple HTTP post sequentual threaded board). I want to be able to moderate registrations (for new boards) and allow users to login and edit their styles/settings after they have registered.
More importantly, I want to maintain a database of these registered boards. Each time a new board is created I want its information saved in the database and added to a user-navigable directory.
Any ideas on where to get started? Proper credit will be given!

if ubb is not what you are interested in, then I think you might be at the wrong site... we don't support other forums.

I reccomend you get a UBB, but if you want something free there are heaps of them out there and you don't want to use too much bandwith and space.

I understood that he's not interested in a ubb, he wants something that doesn't take up as much resources, etc...

thank you dende, yes I have a UBB installed for myself.
scratch what i said before about using simpler software; my main goal is to allow people to create their own forums and have them stored in a database. (maybe I can use categories) How can this be automated

i suppose Hostboard.com would be a good example, however they seem to be using version 5.47a
would it be possible to do this with a newer, 6.1.0.2 version? (which i DO own and run)

Or, how about the latest version, 6.1.0.3?

As a pre-mature announcement Hostboard has successfully upgraded ALL its functions plus a whole lot more on UBB 6.1.0.3 There will be an announcement short coming making this official
