I remember when the 6.1 beta came out, people had it installed within minutes and there were hacks the next morning. Now that 6.2 beta is out, I can only find one user here with it running (besides me) and there are very few specific hacks for it. Is everyone becoming complacent?

I think that so many people had to rewrite their hacks 3 or 4 times, and so many other people had to rehack their boards with each beta that they are waiting for something solid to play with.

I just like to stick with stable versions. I didn't upgrade to the 6.1 beta, either. Only thing that bothers me is when people hack the beta, then don't update their hacks when everything is out of beta. :-/

I just upgraded Pixel26 today. But then, Pixel26 is pretty empty right now, so it's not really all big a deal.

I think 6.1 was a lot more highly touted and publicized than 6.2 has been. Also, because of the extremely long length of the 6.1 beta test, many people may be more wary of beta tests lately because they don't want to be stuck on a non-stable version for such a long time.

Both of my boards are 6.1.0.4 and really stable. *crosses fingers* I installed the first beta of 6.2 and played with the templates a bit but I haven't even downloaded the new beta.

I think it's gonna be a great release version but I already have the features I need hacked in. I'm sure I'll build a board on my local test server but I doubt I'll be upgrading anytime soon. I'm trying to get over the need to upgrade just to upgrade. I feel really good about the security of the current release, and that has been my biggest concern in previous upgrades.

6.2.0 Came out too quick. Thats why I think nobody is that much in a hurry to upgrade.

What's weird is that I tried several times to upgrade to 6.1.* and had to go back every time for different reasons. 6.2 went in with no problems and seems very stable, that's why I'm eager to add a few hacks to it and customize a little but there isn't much out there yet.

One of the most important features is the only one I can't get to work. The recent visitors switch makes my board go to a white screen so I'm forced to leave it off. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Besides that, it's taking a beating from my 2500 users and still running like a champ.

yeah, charles has done a great job of refining 6.1's code in 6.2... he's cleaned up most if not all remaining bug issues that had popped up since 6.1's release. So 6.2 should feel a good bit more stable

I've got a 6.2 test board up, and I am customizing it so that when it goes final, I'll have a new stylish 6.2 out on the block. wink

i like to have something "final" before i start hacking into it, i dident make the ubb 5.45 > 6 jump till v6 was to 6.05, i dident go to 6.1 cause i found i could downgrade most hackings i wanted intot he 6.05 system, i plan on a 6.2 if i ever get my server back. i just felt the time bewtweem 6.1 and 6.2 was waaaay to short once 6.1 came out of beta, i like to have something i can hack and keep for awhile.
