I'm looking for some informed opinions (I am brave aren't I) about a PHP front end. I plan on using the UBB Portal when it's available but I have other sites that don't have boards.
Who here has experience with PHP-Nuke and/or Post-Nuke? Both use MySQL and PHP (obviously) and have plug-ins available. I would just like to have some guidance before I start putting time into one or the other.

I don't know much about them, but it seems that phpnuke has a more robust development community and other php scripts tend to use phpnuke when they wanna integrate to an "instant portal" script.

POSTNUKE!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a PHP Nuke site running on one of my sites. Wish I had gone with Post Nuke.
I'm not going to list what I dislike about PHP Nuke, that's not nice. I'll just leave with "were I to do it again I would never have used PHP Nuke".
Picture perfect penmanship here.

Ask JC XperT, since he pretty much knows all to know about them.

I have used PHPNuke for a while now. I have just started using PostNuke as I am devloping a PN site for a client.
PostNuke has a definate advantage becuase it has many devlopers. And many module makers are dropping PHPNuke.
The devloper of PHPNuke is now the sole devoloper, he does surprise the community with some cool features PHPNuke 5.5 looks promising. But the modules that are now available for PostNuke make it a better choice in my opinion.
If you would like more detailed info feel free to drop me a pm.

I have worked with Post nuke for a lil while now, and I like it. It seems to fit my needs, and is very user friendly. I recommend using PHPMyAdmin also to round out your abilities.

Thanks guys, I installed it (postnuke) on a test server, and have the database created but i keep getting an error that points to my config.php file being wrong. I've checked and rechecked it but still no go.
I'm gonna hit it again tomorrow after some much needed sleep.

Actually I did. I have a test site up and I'm in development right now. The site doesn't have the netwerkin name so I'm not giving out the URL till it's ready for public viewing. I figure another 4 to 6 months.
I have to say that PHP and MySQL are a beautiful combination.
