Not really, but I hate AOL!

I'm using Trillian. I use it for ICQ, AIM and Yahoo. (I think MSNIM is better, so I don't use it for MSN).

Once I couldn't connect to AOL in both Trillian and AIM's program because I was 'trying too soon', and I found out it's because AOL doesn't like Trillian (I'm sure it's banners and stuff even though AOL says it's insecure/whatever). I got the newest Trillian and it worked again - and guess what - it stopped working yesterday. I got Trillian's newest version and it works again, 'till next time. frown

Please get ICQ/MSN/Yahoo as well, I use AIM only to contact people which don't have/use it.

Thats why you keep the programs seperated like I do. I have used trillian but I like my messengers seperated. I have AIM/ICQ/MSN

I use Trillian for AIM and Y! and the separate progs. for ICQ and MSN/.NET/Windows Messenger. I have had no probs with Trillian on AIM... Yet...

Microsoft also went through a stint of trying to make their MSN thing compatible with AIM's Oscar protocol. IIRC, during the height of that battle there would be several new revisions of MSN released every day because AOL would block one and MS would find a new way around it. And since I somehow doubt Cerellean or whatever their name is has quite the development capabilities of Microsoft, I think Trillian will probably fail and die if AOL starts really trying to block them again.

Personally, I just use regular old AIM anyway. I dunno, I just never got into Trillian like most people. I really did try, i've had it installed several different times and tried to make myself use it, but I guess I'm just afraid of change or something dumb like that. So it's always back to regular AIM after a day or two.

I'm now an avid Trillian user. I can't stand waiting for ICQ to load up on my system anymore at start. Trillian loads fast and now I can use icq, aim, and msn all in one lil app. smile

Good read for anyone btw:

It only says:
L i N K 2 4 1
Instead of:
L i N K 2 4 1's buddy list

and, the buttons and junk and ads at the bottom and top are gone. Nice and simple.

ICQ actually loads best if you start on netdetect first, then double click it or whatever, at least that way you don't see the splash screen.

best way disable the auto-launch on the progs, and make a lil batch file that opens all three (both whatever you use) at once.

I have and will never use AIM.

using msn and icq, used to use yahoo but have no use for it now.
