I apologise if this is in the wrong forum but i would like to know if there is a way to take the body from an image without the background and place it onto another image like using copy and paste but replce the Text with an image (using fireworks 4)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean here, but let me have a go at explaining what I THINK you mean.

If you make an image in fireworks, and save it as .png you can come back to it at a later date and change it's components like text, colour etc.

Or, if you wanted to cut something out then you could use the marquee tool. If neither of these are what you mean then give an example and I'll try to help some more

I think you were right about the marquee tool. I want to save an image from the net to my hard-drive that has a picture of someone in it. how do I take that someone from that image (WITHOUT THE BACKGROUND) and place it onto another image which I want to edit with other things such as text.

i dont have any I was just wanting to know for future referance .

But anyway could I crop the character from this image and paste it onto another without the blue and and the rock things?.

OK, just cut round them then. Always try and put a feather of 1-3 on it to prevent jagged edges.

is there any way to convert png files to jpg or gif?

One of the fastest tools to convert any image format to another is in my humnble opinion ACDSee ...

Just right click from the ACDSee browser and choose convert ...

From fireworks you can also do it with the export function of fireworks ... and choose between GIF JPEG BMP and TIFF depending on your output requirements ...

It's under
File > Export or Export Preview or Export Wizard
