What in your opinions, would be a suitable bandwidth for a UBB forum, with 300 members, but have only 10 posting a day?

Page views this month (09/2002): 42183, 8756 (20.76%) from the UBB Accelerator I am only asking because I checked my bandwidth thingie on the server and it said I was coming up to 2 gig! My forum is hardly popular enough to pay for bandwidth!

that sounds about right. Make sure your graphics are optimized for size as well - that'll help a lot.

Also, check to see if zilb is installed. If you run the accelerator test script, it will tell you. That should help reduce some bandwidth.

yup, zlib is installed. Is there any other way to lower bandwidth? I take it PHP boards will have a lower bandwidth? not that I want to change.
Also.. whats the bandwidth per month of a busy board like ubbdev?

I have another question, if I were to use a PHP board, would that lower my bandwidth?

Not unless it can take advantage of zlib. Threads can.
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Also (don't shoot me) does vBulletin use zlib and does vb lower bandwidth?

If your server uses Windows 2000/XP, get it from 6.0-6.2 Mods Forum (search for cgi_buffer in the search box )... If not, I don't think you can use it.

Yes, you can. I have. But it requires certain modules to be added to the perl on the server.

At my site we recieve about 100 registrations a month, we're presently only using 4 gigs of bw monthly for the UBB (our quota is 15).
If your host is stingy about your bandwidth prehaps you should go elsewhere?
