Yeah, we were discussing this on IRC... One person seemed particularly scared about it Personally I always have (and will) use IE, cause even though almost everyone hates it and thinks it sucks, at least you know it's not gonna come and stab you in the back

MS Internet Explorer 92.6 % Netscape 5.4 % Opera 0.7 % Unknown 0.5 % Safari 0.3 %
The top 5 browsers that are used on my site. So yep I have to agree. Also XP has now edged out the other OS's for the #1 position.

Well, yeah... Cause it's only little companies that want to know what you're looking at, so they can try to sell the information to bigger companies like MS quote:

Just because everyone uses it doesn't mean everyone likes it... Though that's false in my case.

I install IE only for system updates. It really sucks and crashes a lot and I' m not using it now. Opera is better and faster...

If opera is spyware it wouldn't surprise me. You can't make money giving a browser away for free, even if its ad supported. But on the other hand there is a lot of money to be made in selling demographics and metrics.

Have they made money giving it away? No, not one cent from the browser.

User bin has a point and so does Burak. Correct me if I'm wrong but Microsoft doesn't need to generate significant revenue (if any) off of their browser simply because their other products do just fine. Internet Explorer is an accessory to the other applications...The browser intergrates well with other media types. No spyware or adware needed here.

I've got one It's owned by AOL. AOL kinda falls into the MS category of not needing to make money.

Maybe it looks like they dont earn any money from it, but the reality is different They kicked other softwares out from the browser category...
