highly recommend you read up on regular expressions & mod_rewrite documentation before you attempt to do this!
In other words know what you are doing. A simple syntactical error will stop your site from being accessed by your users.
This is used for servers running Apache
only. This can be done within your httpd.conf file as well. In fact performance wise individual rewrites work better there. I jusut have not figured out how to do a single rewrite with my list yet which is preferable when done in .htaccess
There is a minimal performance hit in CPU usage but the bandwidth saved from these pests should outweigh this.
