Yes, there is a beta ready to go out.
It was supposed to go out Monday, but the docs weren't done yet. One of the many reasons we don't announce release dates.
Whether or not it's out today is a completely different matter.

Yeah... I'd never hold you guys to a date. I've always been pleased at the way things are done... waiting is always better then a ton of bug fixes. *thinks back to the 6.0-6.1 era with way too many bug fixes*  I saw the Beta on Flare yesterday and thought if it's not out by the end of the evening I'll post something about it in the am. Just my way of saying "I'm paying attention, still"

Charles, how long does it ususally take (with minimal bugs of course) to go to full release, cause I go back to school on the 2nd and was hoping I could have it installed before that

Al: Well, normally it's at least two weeks and MAYBE a second beta release... however, there's LOTS of new code here, so I'm sure there will be at least one followup beta, requiring a slightly longer than normal beta period. If there's a high bug rate, then there will need to be more testing. If there's a low bug rate, then there won't need to be more testing than normal. After the first few private beta releases, the private bug rate dropped like a rock. I'm feeling pretty good about this release... Let's hope that it's quick.

hey Charles, with this new and improved CP, will I be able to delete categories? cause my navaigation dropdowns in the forums look weird with a blank space where the category would be
