...Slashdot?
Where do you get your fill of geek news?
What are your favorite tech sites (besides UBBDev!)?

cnn.com bostonherald.com
There is nothing on that wasteland called /. that interests me even remotely. I mean, why is someone interested in a half a blurb then far too many uninformed posts made by a bunch of over enlarged wanna be geniuses hiding behind the supposed anonymity of the internet. Aint a one of them has the guts to say to me in real life what they would type to me as a response on /.
Picture perfect penmanship here.

For NEWS, I read only a few places.. news.google.com (and thus anything they link to) and bayarea.com (San Jose Mercury News) mainly. Yes, even though I live in Seattle, I still read the Merc. I occasionally pop over to sacbee.com. I don't really trust much as far as real technology news is concerned. news.com is OK, but their articles are often either misinformed or downright wrong, so everything there gets a truckload of salt. ZDNet is the same. The Register is pretty good, though they're sometimes more opinion than fact. For news+opinion, I read Slashdot. I also read (and vote at) Kuro5hin. Occasionally, I'll visit Salon, but not frequently enough to consider a subscription. For teh funnay, I read Fark... and Somethingawful, but I doubt you'd consider SA as news. ( Psychosis is an old friend of mine. His first article defines him, really... he speaks as he writes. Very frightening, in the nicest possible way. San Diego native. 'nuff said.)
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Slashdot is interesting every once in awhile, but there's only so much of it I can take. Seems to me, to be a bunch of 12 year olds using Internet Explorer to post about how much they hate Microsoft - and just about anything else that's not under their precious GPL. The Register is where I go for general tech news. nvNews and Rage3d are good for graphics card news and stuff like that. DeviantART and Deskmod for art and skinning related news. Yahoo is good for all other news (mostly Oddly Enough ). ---Jamin

whoa. Now a couple of days have passed and I'm rereading my post. I'm wondering... do I really dislike /. as much as what came across?
Hmmmm. Yup. I really do.
Other than CNN.com and the Boston Herald I frequent Dan's Data, Driver Heaven, a couple of Windows tweak sites that will have the occasional tech snippet and a few other odd sites here and there that I'll bounce around to.
Picture perfect penmanship here.

I stopped reading most news aside from a few like cnn.com. Slashdot used to draw me in but not anymore, in fact I never go there anymore. SomethingAwful is too funny for words.

Neowin is my source for any news that's MS-based... And since I don't use Linux there's no need for anything else. I occasionally visit BBC News: Technology but sometimes their articles lack depth and are sometimes uninformed. Google News for everything else. But nothing can stop the unbelievable power of... a PC Format subscription ! I've been a subscriber for 5 years now and haven't had a cause for complaint once. And you're right, Charles, I wouldn't consider SA as news. More like mass-cynicism.
