Over the past couple of weeks, the staff and I have noticed that this forum has become clogged with requests for signature images and forum logos. It needs to be addressed that this is not what this forum is here for. Styles and Graphics is for posting image sets, custom icons, and generic logos that you've made for the UBB™. It is also for posting color schemes and general graphical enhancements for yours and other people's boards.

That is why we will be closing all future requests for signature images and/or forum logos. We're sorry that it has come to this, but we really need to get this forum back on its' original track. Thanks for understanding where we're coming from on this issue.

Well, while I respect that decision I do feel it's a little harsh. If anyone need any more graphics just PM me.

Anyway, how about a forum specially for requests??? I think it would be a shame to lose the part of this site.

Not that there won't be plenty of opportunity to showcase your skills... Matt, Scats, and Deb have some stuff planned where everyone can participate, credit will be given, with a few surprises in store for those with time and "mad skillz"

Ok, in fairness I do not do this to show off my skills. It was not long ago when I could not pull off a decent looking graphic to save my life, before I even knew what a graphics program was!

What about those people who need some graphics, as some guy said earlier, this place is unique, so why get rid of it?

Kubic, I can kinda see where they are coming from. I mean, in the last fortnight, there have been almost 100 requests for Sig images, which quite frankly are unimportant, and yes, this site was made for advice etc. not requests.

However, I feel there should be a seperate forum for requests, it's a great place for people to get some top quality graphics that would usually require you selling either your body or your soul.

I really do think this should be an addition...

Aw, no offense, but that's just really lame. These guys like making things for other people, and the requests won't stop anyone from posting something they've made to show it off or to ask a question (which doesn't even happen that often). Have we all become communists? If they wanna do it, let them do it, why so many rules?

I mean, i wish you could talk freely about this site, that is what used to make it so great, you could come, discuss ubb, and just chat about stuff, if you ask me you can hardly do that anymore, especcialy if it concerns a differn't bbs.

I say there should be a forum for requests if not ill make a forum and you can post a link to it from this site

I guess I'll just screw it and go ahead and speak my mind, since kubic makes it look like so much fun.

You have to realize this is a big site, and certain people who are respected by admins seem to reeeeaaally enjoy the power they have. Let's face it, not everyone is like cal and seems to just do it for fun. I won't mention any names, but some of the mods take this whole thing a bit too serious, and that's usually the first step towards failure. As big as this site is right now, if you make the visitors angry with all kinds of rules (that confuse newbies all the time), it'll eventually fall. But then again, good things seem to happen to bad people pretty often, so maybe I'm wrong and it'll just get bigger and bigger, even with the nonesense we regular members put up with.

I'm just giving you an outsider's (not on the staff) opinion. I still say we're screwed, cause the guys who can actually program are either infopopers or on the staff here at ubbdev....

Very true about the guys liking to make stuff for people I like it because I mean i can help someone out .. isnt that something we all should do .. most of these forums are for helping out .. so why not a request forum I dont know .. me and cuba will be the forum mods right cuba ??

As Allen previously mentioned, we're going to be embarking on some new template projects. What we're trying to do here is make a "UBB-In-A-Box", so to speak. Scats and I will be coming up with some unique color schemes that will then be saved as variables, and distributed to people here at UBBDev. This is where you guys come in.

We'll be asking for help making images for these schemes, in order to make complete sets. What we're looking for: generic logos, new post/reply/closed buttons, folder icons, and misc. images. I can explain things in greater detail when the time comes.

To everyone else who is whining/complaining/demanding, please stop. It's not very becoming of yourselves.

Hmm... I haven't ventured into this forum for quite some time, so you can decide for yourself whether you even want to consider my opinions or not...

Awhile ago, when I was a mod in this forum, there was a phase where everyone and their brother came here to request logo images... and about 75% of those requests came from people who had a total post count of one. That means they came here for the sole purpose of getting a logo image. I am decent at graphics... there are others who are much better than I, but I do have some skills. But I'm not nearly as generous as some people, unfortunately. Especially when it came down to the people who made their first post requesting a logo image. Every once in awhile I would make someone a logo image who I thought was actually a good member here. But that was about it. The one-post wonders were taking advantage of the resources here, in my opinion. I quit coming into this forum altogether, because it began to have nothing to do with it's orignal purpose (see Matt's post that started this topic). I asked to be removed from this forum, because I felt my personality conflicted with the one the users in here required: that is, someone who will make graphics for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

This has began to happen once again with the sig image requests.

While graphics are a part of the UBB, and while graphic development does require a place here, graphics are not even remotely close to the *main* part of UBB or this site. Especially graphics as manifested in sig pics. This is a site for the development of the UBB, not for the development of sig pics. Whether they're for use here or at your own site, if you get right down to it, sig pics have absolutely nothing to do with UBB itself.

Yes, a few of you do have some 1337 $k!11Z, and you should have every opportunity to show them off. But my honest opinion is that making sig pics for every Joe Schmo that asks is not the best way to showcase your talents. If you do want to do that for users of your own forum, or if you want to tell people here to go to your forum to request sigs/logos, it's your own decision. But this site is not the place to do it it.

Those who do have talents, please feel free to aid the development of UBB-related graphics, such as public domain generic logo/button sets, smilies, avatars, styles/colors, et cetera. Because we really do need good developers here, be they perl hackers, template modders, or graphic artists. But like I said, sig pics aren't the way to do it, on this site at least.

Skorpion...funny thing happened today. When I was taking my English final (11R) I was writing the word "seven" but instead of writing it like that I wrote it "se7en." Hehehe, I was like oh yeah.

I don't think I've done it with the word "seven" yet. But I've misspelled "scorpion" several times on English papers... Actually the correct spelling of that word seems to me like a misspelling, now... I have to actually *think* about spelling it correctly! Hehe.
