f2s is not allowing me to look at anything with .cgi in the file name... And I am 14 and dont have a job (ect.) and my parents are nerds so they wont get me webspace, so I need to know where I can get some for free. and dont give me crap addresses like xoom and spaceports cause they both suck.

Well, how else are the free web hosts going to pay for their infrastructure & staff? They make money through ad banners. I'm not sure how F2S has been able to work the way they have, something is subsidizing that service. Pretty much all I've heard about have ad banners of some type. In addition, the server performance and uptime on these free hosts will be dismal at best, so you're just going to have to accept that.

2. http://www.hypermart.net
3. http://www.netfirms.com

I would also ask, is there any reason why your dad can't set aside some of his web space for your site? That may be your best option.

Just some things to watch out for on the above web host. All this comes from their own FAQ and other pages on their site:

1. There is a 150kb file size limit to prevent abuse.

2. You are allowed to have 500 files in your account. If you need more, please contact us. (This would be a # of files quota).

3. You are allocated 35MB of space.

4. A pop-up ad is placed on your pages. The pop-up auto minimizes, and won't pop-up when the visitors visit your other pages on the same site. So its not annoying to you or to the people that visit your site. You can optionally choose to have a banner ad placed in your header instead of the pop-up, by e-mailing us. (Only pop-up is available at this time, due to market conditions).

5. Even though the aggregate bandwidth you may use is not limited, your web site must be used primarily for the display of HTML pages, and the total amount of data transferred from your web site space may not exceed one megabyte for every two html page views. All use of web site space shall be subject to all the terms and conditions set forth herein. T35.com retains the authority to restrict your website as to file types and size, and to restrict transfer rates or amounts.

I only post the above, because many newbies tend to just read the headlines being advertised and not the true facts. As you can see from my item #5 it really is not an unlimited bandwidth provider. As well as the limitations on files sizes and the number of files which further reduces the true amount of bandwidth you actually would have available.

No, do not use Netfirms, I found out that they will delete your site for excessive CGI usage that means after you get a UBB for it and get up to a nice amount of members the will delete your site! mad mad mad

I figured as much. I really don't know much about any of the free hosts, just what I hear people posting here and at other sites. But I'm sure whatever else they do, probably won't support free hosting for too long.

Isn't F2S a UK-based host? If it is, it amazes me its providing free hosting. Everything I hear about UK hosting is that they charge out the wazoo compared to hosts here in the U.S. Which I'm assuming means costs of serving in the UK are much more than in the U.S.

Your best bet would be to go with a cheap paid server. Do anything that ur mom or dad wants and talk them into buying you webspace. If your dad bought a licence to the UBB, he should be willing to buy some cheap webspace.

Freedom 2 Surf has been having some technical problems here, including downtime with CGI files. Its all part of their so called "Upgrade & Fix". They arn't fixing anything. They are still slow, and have bad connections. And the downtime is horrible.

I asked my mom just yesterday if she could help me with webspace and she said that she would as long as I did some chores, ect. I did some today and im planning to continue so I can get my own webspace (I really want mystichealer.net laugh )

Good, free webhosts dont come that often and accually most of them have already become converted into Pay sites. Sooner or later all that will be left is Tripod and Geocities (which arnt even good for storing images on  )

To sum up: the best way to go is just to get a cheap paid host and domain name. If your dad can afford a UBB and A vB, he can definatly afford some webspace

P.S. Your dad must be rich if he can buy all this stuff... Can I get a loan?
