Good Morning Guys, I am in Toronto and it is a difficult to find a reliable hosting company that can run my Forum, especially version 6+, when I was running the older version it was no problem. Now version 6 is killing the server. I was thinking of going with Infopop and their hosting services. Can someone tell me how reliable they are, also what is really UBBx?, do they normally do regular updates, I guess modifying the code on that is out of the question, since they automayically to the new releases. Thanks

UBB.x is OpenTopic, but it's running with a MySQL back-end instead of Oracle. Since it's not downloadable you are not able to modify the code. But, from what I understand it does provide a way to make some minor changes somehow.
I'm not a web hosting customer yet so I can't say for sure how reliable the hosting is. There hasn't been any complaints posted on their web hosting support boards. Infopop always provides excellent service and support, so I don't have any concerns....I'm planning on switching to them when my current hosting contract expires.

Go to www.digitalprinceton.net They specialize in UBB Hosting at great prices. They won't kick you out for having a busy board.

Infopop's web hosting is reliable and fast. If you are outgrowing ubb.classic, ubb.x is nice if you don't want to mess with the code, tho you can integrate it into the rest of your site with custom header/footer/color scheme UBB.threads is a choice if you want to be able to modify the code and need a beefier solution.

Thats seems to be a good server. Plus some domain names have good servers too. Just look around.

What a profoundly intriguing statement. And so true, too. Some domain names do have good servers!

Maybe thats just because your mistakes arent just mistakes, they usually tend to be hilarious (just kidding ofcourse, no need to hurt me now ) quote: Originally posted by Lord Dexter: You always have to make a big deal of my mistakes, don't you?

I just got a shocker this morning from Infopop "Your site guyanaca.com has exceeded its bandwidth quota in the period beginning on 2002-06-01. Your quota is set to 3221225472 bytes, and your site has consumed 900295241 bytes beyond that quota."
Now the extra $5./G will cost me lots more money by the end of the month. What am I to do guys????

Pay the bill unfortunatly. I would also see if there is another level of service that they offer that might better suite your bandwidth requirements.

upgrade the plan to more bandwidth?
Change hosts to someone who offers more bandwidth for the money? (though if you don't own a licence that would involve other expenses)

Yeah, you'll definately want to just move to a higher plan... You shouldn't have signed up for a 3 gig/month plan when you knew you were pulling at least 8.
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Well i have stuck with Infopop and things are much better, they had some rough times and some problems at first, but I think they are over all that now, Their latest release of UBB is very good.
