We're running 6.3 on Mandrake 8.2 The default mail server that ships with that distro is terribly unreliable. I was wondering if it's possibile to tell UBB to use the mail server on another box, or if I am going to be challenged with the task of compiling Sendmail.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

If it's an SMTP mail server, sure - just put the full hostname or IP address in the SMTP hostname box in the email settings control panel, then switch to SMTP mode.
