I'm talking about xcalibre communications in the UK.

There servers are very fast, and have a multitude of features such as:
Perl 5
PHP4
MySQL
WAP Support
Logging and Security Features
Multiple FTP Accounts
As standard

They also offer ASP and the likes for a little extra.

There prices are also good.

The servers they have are very fast, they are Linux/Apache Servers or IIS if you want ASP.

IIS Servers are not standard (for the obvious security IIS shoulnd't be used outside of an Intranet kinda reasons).

There customer support is top notch.

I had a problem sorting out the catch all on my server.

10 minutes after I sent the email they TELEPHONED me and took me through the process on the phone.

They have a control panel and meeting community ( using vBulletin frown ).

This is another great pitch they have.

An excellent service, and very customisable accounts.

Not the cheapest in the world, but worth it.

They also offer all types of Domain. And by the way, they register your domain in under a week. My server was ready with domain in 2 days. Better than the week of more some hosts have going on.

Edit:
DUH - forgot the URL www.xcalibre.co.uk

Give me a break, I run hundreds of IIS and 2K servers that are on the internet and I have never had one go down to code red, Nimda or any hackers. The Linux servers I run are more dangerous outside of a firewall than the IIS boxes are.

Actually, I have to agree with RGames in that issue wink IIS has much more security bugs than Apache, and in addition to the security issues, IIS has less features... and Linux is usually faster than W2K and can carry more users.

windows vs linux is an old argument... you post stats of any study that shows one outperforming another and someone will post another study refuting it. There's good and bad in both. There are no more open security holes in a well-maintained windows server than apache, linux, etc.

Equation is simple:
Want ASP? go for IIS.
Perl, PHP? go for Apache.
Python? Zope.

It usually depends on the programming languages we want to use.
Perl and PHP are most secure under Apache. While ASP is IIS' firend.

Thoust should practice what thy preach tipsy Any properly configured and patched server will be no more vulnerable then another running a the other OS.

It comes down to personal prefrence and the right OS for the job. Personaly I belive in a mixed OS environment just for that reason.
