I wish to fill a void that was created when a favorite site of mine went down for potential liability concerns.

I know how many posts have been posted in the last 2 years and a rough idea of the number of users.

What is the best way to figure out bandwidth and storage space needs for this site?

Well, your stats would be the best source...

Unfortunately, I don't have the stats and I don't believe that I will be able to get them. So, I need to figure out a way that I can determine what the hosting needs are so I could determine if I could break even on the project.

I don't mind not making money, I just don't want to lose money.

PS: I've spoken to some people and worked out the liability issues, so that is a minimal concern now.

Email your host lol... Their the best shot.

I am hosted at www.hostnuke.com which provides me with a plan of 10gigs HD space and 50gigs monthly bandwidth. They have just about any feature that you could want, and, if their lacking something that you need, there is always the possibility to ask about getting something added to suit your needs.

If the site has say 3000 board members, it'll have approximately (an educated guess) a 10 gig bandwidth need. Most UBB's will need 50 megs of space for growth.

www.hostnuke.com offers some 10gig bw/150meg space plans for like $9 a month, the servers are quite nice, just tell the admin that Gizmo from UGN sent you and theil be nice wink ...
