are there any rules to follow when renumbering the order of your forums?

i ask because. . i had created 2 new forums. . then renumbered their order. . but then, when trying to access them, it gave an 'FYI' page saying '5' or '6'. . and i know the forum # is referenced in the url (f=1, for example). i am going to want to renumber again, but want to be safe. how is this handled?

are you sure you updated the forum stats via cp ?

check your forums.cgi and if necessary, edit it manually.
