UBB.Dev
Name: AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status

Description: Adds IM icons on a post by the user either next to the 'profile, e-mail, homepage ..etc..' icon row or next to 'IP:Logged' depending on which IM services the member uses.

Demo: Gaming Update

Link: Zip File

Requirements: UBB.classicTM 6.3.x , Modification Wordlets

Previous Authors: Aliensw, Philipp

Last Updated: 01/09/02 - Changed profile fields, XHTML Update.

This hack is an update of the previous version by Aliensw for the 6.1 series. The link he supplied no longer works for the download, and after 2 months of trying to get in touch with both author's, i've had no reply. Therefore I will now be taking care of this hack.

Good job!
Well, I know you didn't make it, but still... smile (I also tried to reach Philippe for ages)
zip file updated..
AIM now has english wordlets and instructions have been added how to add the icons to the right of IP: Logged.

I guess you could say I've officially taken charge of this hack.. tipsy
Posted By: LK Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/25/2002 5:07 PM
Is it just me or you forgot to add a Wordlet of 'Hi. Are you there?' wink
[code][/code]
Posted By: LK Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/25/2002 6:03 PM
That's my point, that you don't have a Wordlet tipsy (you should, lol)
LK's suggestion has been put in to practise and the AOL welcome message is now wordletised (with a little help from him) laugh

re-hack: vars_wordlets_mods.cgi and public_topic_page.pl
You are so picky LK. tipsy

Anyway nice work, I will install this later.
Whoops..
Fixed a MAJOR coding error on my part.. eek

If you had the icons to the right of IP:Logged (like the demo) re-hack: public_topic_page.pl

I'll prolly be modifying this so that it doesn't use custom fields, rather dedicated ones. If I do, shall I send the modified version to you?

Anyone have any ideas for profile 'position' numbers? wink
Posted By: Atar Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 4:26 PM
maybe its an idea to add this to the MSN part:

[code][/code]also the first MSN url isnt working (http://status.2y.net:81/msn) so I advise you to use http://www.arcisoft.com:99/msn/ (who are btw the inventors of this MSN online thingie)

my 0.02 eurocents tipsy

.edit, cleared up that code part

MSN = 666 (for its the r00t of all evil [Linked Image])
ICQ = 777 (only when used with trillian that is)
AIM = 101 wink
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 4:39 PM
Don't feel like having 777 lines per profile, people would start to complain wink

And ICQ/AIM are already built-in.
Posted By: Atar Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 4:49 PM
you dont need to have that amount of boxes, you just name them that. ie: $user_profile[666], $user_profile[777] and $user_profile[101]
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 4:51 PM
I meant lines in the profile file itself; 777 lines would dramatically increase the space used on large boards.
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 5:20 PM
I'll temporarily use one I have not used on mine; 60 and 61. This will change once the profile field topic is re-posted (hint wink )
Posted By: LK Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 5:21 PM
Yep. When you use [777], your profile will include 777 lines - 1554 bytes ONLY for line breaks!
Posted By: Atar Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 5:25 PM
hmmm, ok. Whatever tipsy

Yeah please.. It would be much more practical than using 2 custom fields smile
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/26/2002 11:04 PM
Well, after a load of work I did it and have PMd the URL of some bare bones instructions to OK. On my own site I have modified it so that it doesn't use dynamic images for ICQ (stupid ICQ use & for their query strings :'() but the one I pmd does.
I'm gonna test it on a test ubb sometime and see how it goes.. I have a funny feeling I might have to edit the tables on your version of the hack as the icons on your board are spaced way too far apart for my liking. The rest of the code looks good though, just got to test if it works and maybe slightly edit it.

Won't be anytime soon though. I have GCSE's all this week frown
I just installed it, worked good. smile
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/27/2002 8:06 PM
Bah... I have 'em in a year wink

Anyway, just noticed a prob in the text file -- meant that once people had specified MSN/Y! they couldn't edit it tipsy . I had fixed it on my board, but forgot to change the text file.

Updated (and yes, they are too far apart, please see if you can either A) get better pics or B) space 'em out better wink -- Just one   between them currently.
Dunno if you fixed that bug in the .txt file or not, but i've released our beta release 4.0 of this hack. Dave has done most of the coding, I've just been putting it together and cleaning it up slightly. I fixed the spacing of the icons (by replacing them with better images).

Same .zip file, to upgrade from beta 3.0 re-hack everything, there's no easier way to do it.. Sorry wink
http://www.liberifatali.com/umbrella/ubbhacks/ImStatus6.3.zip

beta 4.1 will make all 4 IM statuses totally wordletised, and be included in the registration page..
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 05/30/2002 8:20 PM
Just noticed... There is no option on registration :S.

Should fix that... But I want to rest now, had an annoying day at school.
Yeah, I just noticed the fields are not there on the registration page.

What's the difference between public_register_form.pl and public_register_page.pl?
I think it's based on whether or not your board has the COPPA check enabled or not. If it is, the board reads from both public_register_page.pl and public_register_page_kid.pl. If disabled, the board just reads from public_register_form.pl.

I could be wrong though tipsy
(No doubt LK or Charles will correct me on this)
Posted By: LK Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 06/26/2002 5:59 PM
You're correct. I will correct you wink

public_register_page and public_register_page_kid are NOT used anymore.
Thanks guys. smile
Here's the additional hack to get the registration pages working. I've applied this to 6.3.0 and it works. Enjoy!

[code][/code]
Sorry, UBB stripped out all the white space.

It may be clearer in a text file .
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 06/29/2002 8:34 PM
Oops, forgot about this... :S
Anyway, thanks for that!
/me waits for Oblivion Knight to test it... tipsy
I was just waiting to see if LK was going to comment on something wrong with this addon.. laugh
LK's the wise one around here is he? tipsy wink
Posted By: LK Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 06/30/2002 3:20 PM
If you REALLY want...

1. [60] is used for CSS switcher and [61] is used for QuickReply. Yours was BEFORE them, so I don't request you to change it, but if you wish...

2. That's from Paulus' code:
Code
[/code]Now is that dumb or what? :p Do what QuickReply/MyStyle do:
[code]
Zip updated to add MSN and Yahoo! fields to the registration settings of the UBB.

Thanks to Paulus Magnus and LK. smile
I think I'll just keep using the custom field. I'm only using one so no big deal.
Now Allen's released his 'Extra Custom Profiles' hack, it won't be that much of a problem to keep it running that way. It's just been done to develop the hack further, and get it closer to the final version..

I think there will be some differences with JCsTemplates, there always is.. wink

Lol, sorry but I haven't got a clue how to program in Perl/CGI at all. I'm just applying general symantec rules from other languages to it and most of the time it works.

What version of UBB are you running..?
Try taking away the space before the code and then search for it..

im running 6.2.1.1 at the moment but it says its been tested with 6.2.x so i figured it might work... I also tried taking away the space and making it more and more possible to find but still no luck.. Can you help me?
Yes this should work with 6.2, and I also think there was a version for 6.2 if you are unsure.

i tried the 6.2 version and it worked perfectly... The only thing was, i wanted the icons to appear at the far right side where the IP Logged was (it appreared right beside IP Logged) and i didn't know how to modify it so it would do that.. Does anyone know how to make it do that in the 6.2 version of this hack?
Just follow the same instructions for the part in public_topic_page.pl to shift them to the far right.. This updated hack hasn't been tested on lower versions so I guess I should now take that out of the readme. Versions lower than 6.3 wouldn't recognise the avatar profile fields anyway, if you still want to use this version, just search for a profile field lower than [38].. Unless that part of the code has changed entirely.
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/14/2002 5:19 PM
Yeah, the bit of code you couldn't find is 6.3 only...
Hmm...getting "cannot find server" errors when trying to d/l this hack...

m.
Sorry.. My website recently closed and the hacks went with them. I'm trying to get them hosted somewhere.. wink
Posted By: glue Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/20/2002 2:15 AM
Okay, everything is great except the words 'msn' and 'yahoo' don't show up in the profiles. http://thegluefactory.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00000001 I went back thru the hack and I can't find what I missed. This always seems to be my problem... this is the third hack where the word won't show up! I know.. it's me. Please help! What and where do I change?? frown
You have to turn it on in the cp. I think its registration settings.
Posted By: glue Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/20/2002 10:44 AM
No, it's on. I already checked that. :
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/20/2002 11:22 AM
Have you installed modification wordlets properly? If not, then get them here (that points to the topic...)
Posted By: glue Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/20/2002 5:36 PM
I have thanks, cause it's working for my memberlist. frown
Glue, Are the boxes there for the values? But no headers?

I'd check that public_display_profile.pl was hacked correctly.

I also hate to state the obvious but I miss it all the time, did you clear the cache?
Posted By: gabanehet Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 07/30/2002 12:59 PM
I've been trying to download the hack, but link broken.... Anybody kind enough to upload the hack somewhere reliable?
Please note,
I don't know how long this URL will be up for.. Hopefully for a long while.. This URL is only temporary until I decided to bring Umbrella Online back online..

What dont no god dam links working on this board

EDIT :

sorry about that the link works on the last post hehe smile
cheers wink
I have a litte problem with this hack. I think it's my fault but I can't find the part of the code where the mistake is.

MSN, AIM and ICQ work perfect, but every member has a "1" in his Yahoo Messenger icon. You can check this out here:
http://www.nogameover.com/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=001658

Thanks in advance for any help wink
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 08/29/2002 12:52 AM
Try re-hacking public_topic_page.pl
I have a similar problem with AIM over at Gaming Update.. For some reason when a new member registers it adds "45" in their AIM field.. I didn't have any problems over at Umbrella Online with the hack and it's the same UBB Version.. We're currently just ignoring it though. smile
@ Dave2
Thanks für this suggestion but it didn't work. I even tried to place the AIM/ICQ... below to "IP logged" but it still keeps showing "1" with the Yahoo Messenger.

@ all wink
By the way: the AIM-flower works, but don't change it's color. It is grey all the time.

I also installed Quick Reply 4.0. Maybe there is some confusion between the two hacks? In public_topic_page.pl I also have $quotedown after the following:

$this_icq
$this_aim
$this_yahoo
$msn_hack

I don't think this is the reason. But maybe I'm wrong.
Posted By: Dave2 Re: [6.3.x] [beta] AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Status - 08/31/2002 3:41 AM
Just an XHTMLiness update:

Replace the install's version of the following... with the following tipsy
Code
if ($this_icq>1) {
$this_icq = qq( <a href="http://wwp.mirabilis.com/$this_icq"><img src="http://web.icq.com/whitepages/online?icq=$this_icq&img=5" title="$vars_wordlets_mods{icq_text} $this_icq" alt="$vars_wordlets_mods{icq_text} $this_icq"
border="0" /></a>);
} else {
$this_icq = "";
}

if ($this_aim ne "") {
$this_aim = qq( <a href="aim:goim?screenname=$this_aim&message=$vars_wordlets_mods{aol_welcome}"><img src="$vars_config{NonCGIURL}/aim.gif" border="0" title="$vars_wordlets_mods{aim_text}" alt="$vars_wordlets_mods{aim_text}" /></a>);
} else {
$this_aim = "";
}

if ($this_yahoo ne "") {
$this_yahoo = qq(<a href="http://edit.yahoo.com/config/send_webmesg?.target=$this_yahoo&.src=pg" target="_blank"><img src="$vars_config{NonCGIURL}/yim.gif" title="$vars_wordlets_mods{yahoo_text} $this_yahoo" alt="$vars_wordlets_mods{yahoo_text} $this_yahoo" border="0" /></a>);
} else {
$this_yahoo = "";
}

if ($msn_hack ne "") {
$msn_hack = qq(<img src="$vars_config{NonCGIURL}/msn.gif" title="$vars_wordlets_mods{msn_hack} $msn_hack" alt="$vars_wordlets_mods{msn_hack} $msn_hack" border="0" />);
} else {
$msn_hack = "";
}
Only if you want XHTML - Which I do wink

Oh yeah, and how long does everyone reckon the ICQ indicators will stay broken? wink
@ Dave2

I changed the code but it still looks the same. All Yahoo-Links has a "1" and the ICQ-Flower ist grey. (and yes, I cleared my cache tipsy )

My member told me about the ICQ-Flower the same time as the Yahoo-indicator. But as long as ICQ works it is fine for me. Yahoo on the other hand didn't work...

One more thing I didn't mentioned yet: It does not matter what Yahoo Number you write in MY PROFILE it becomes a "1". Maybe the error is not in a template but with the input or datafile ?

Do you have any more ideas ? wink
Fixed..
http://www.darkoriface.com/ob/ImStatus6.3.zip

Download and totally re-hack all files.

The Quick Reply hack has been using the same profile field as Yahoo! so there's the conflict. Instead of being awkward I've changed "[60]" to "[67]" and "[61]" to "[68]". Dave's XHTML updates have also been added..
Thanks a lot for fixing - you are great wink

The ICQ-Flower and it's grey-status seems to be nothing special to my board or your hack. It seems to affect every board who uses the ICQ-flower. I think we should wait a few more days and then this one will work as great as your hack wink
The ICQ Flower rarely works anyway..
It's not designed to totally interact with ICQ to my knowledge.

They've been down for at least a month, probably longer. It's a problem on ICQ's servers.

The status indicators for ICQ are back up!!!!!!!!
Yay..? :rolleyes:
Sorry.. I hate ICQ with a passion..
Dave, can you contact me ASAP please..?
There is a slight bug with the AIM field that I'm currently trying to fix..
