Is there a way to make a topic keep at the top of a forum list even when other topics have been replied to?
Sometimes it is useful to make an announcement that is too long to put in above the forum listing.
I did try to search this site for one but can't find a mention - or am I being stupid?
For a busy forum I would have thought this would be a really good facility.
Cheers

You can always make a forum where it is viewable and replyable. Kind of like our announcements forums here.

I thought of that but there are times when I need to announce something in a particular forum and if it is busy it will just drop down the list in time. I don't want to keep posting reminders to keep it at the top.
I am sure it would be a simple hack but I have no idea where to start!

Wasn't there a hack like this for UBB 5? I think you guys even had it installed here.

I thought so too. But no one seems to have picked up this really useful hack yet for version 6
Unless someone knows otherwise.

What you guys are refering to is "Sticky Threads". I will work on this if time permits. It shouldn't be hard, I hope freeTV

I believed CC mentioned that it would be hard to code. But that's his personal opinion.

I know I am a complete code duffer, but any given topic is given a date and the UBB sorts the list by that date. If a 'sticky' topic had a date set, say a year in advance, the UBB would automatically always post it at the top. The date and 'sticky' topic could be set via a new simple control panel faclity. But then again. . . what do I know
