i can send new messages, read new messages, and do any other function with no problems..however, when i hit "reply" or "forward" to a message, i get an internal service error. i searched all over for a solution to this..and couldn't find an answer. if i missed something, sorry for the dumbass post. anyway.. i installed private messages 3.8 on my heavily hacked version 5.45c. is it compatible with this version? i followed the install closely. i'm no stranger to modifying...and i'm sure i did it right. any ideas are appreciated. carter restless@vagrantcafe.com[ May 14, 2001 11:55 AM: Message edited by: carter ]

hola carter... sounds very odd... usually the 500's happen any time you try to send, not just reply...
Have you installed the codebuttons and set the smilies up too? A very common problem, if I remember, the cafe had a clean interface, so you may not be using those.... tell me what else you have installed besides those 2 that might interfere...

no codebuttons.. and i've only added some smilies manually through ubb_library.pl. i can't think of anything i've added that would affect this. i did some testing..and this is very very strange.. if i try to reply to a pm, the url would look like this http://www.vagrantcafe.com/cgi-bin/privatesend.cgi?action=reply&id=45 and that won't work. however, if i take out the 45 and type 44, i get no error and privatesend comes up as though it were a new pm. but id=46 doesn't work. so..i can arbitrarily type in some id number and i'll get privatesend to come up...maybe. this is wacky. carter [ May 15, 2001 02:00 AM: Message edited by: carter ]

Yes I have had this same prob come up on another forum. You havent made the "private" directory in your cgi-bin.
