LK, im still gettin the error message with the "ubb_calendar_ssi.cgi" file. u can view it here: http://www.djsharp.com/index3.shtml

im supposed to have ubb_calendar_ssi.cgi uploaded in "cgi-bin" & chmoded 755, right? if not, then that could be the problem frown i dont think the readme file ever said where it should go & what it should be chmoded.

LK,

Great hack.

Another great feature would be to allow users to display the day of their birthday, but not the year. Like in the year drop down on the member profile it has all the year options but maybe the top option is "do not display", or something.

Also, the colors are still kind of confusing, I added a color key at the bottom, but manually in the display pl. Maybe a hack for a key at the bottom of the calendar that changes when you chage the calendar settings in the cp?

thanks again, great work!

Having same problem. I think it may be server related though, not a problem with this hack. I can't even get .shtml files in my docs directory to call .inc's in my cgi-bin, let alone exec .cgi's

ZIP file updated with a modification to ubb_calendar_ssi.cgi, if it works in your board or you don't need SSI, you don't need it.

I haven't tested it anywhere that it didn't work before, but I think that's the reason.

Anyway, don't forget you can also try use INCLUDE VIRTUAL, and don't forget that it's not just , it's if it's in another directory.

Thx, for this great hack but the multihack file is it something wrong with. When i try to analyse the file, i get failed in 9 of 10 files. Could not find or add to the hack.

I use the new ubb 6.1.0.2 with the who`s online, mods wordlet and last reply hack on.

Is it just me or.... confused

Hi LK,

My question was how to put a link in the description of an event (birthday)

XYZ was born on this day XX years ago. For greetings:
http://www.yourlink.com

Thanks in advance,

Med.

Manik, it only shows up in the calendar.
DJSharp, I can try.
Shamrock, it goes away after the next cache clearance after the birthday date.

ZIP/MultiHack files updated, now you can see the birthday date in get_profile (optional).

Rehack public_display_profile.pl and cp_lib.cgi and upload the new cp_vars_calendar.pl. If you want this feature, access the CP and choose 'Show it.'

Okay... this calendar hack seriously rocks!

It was a tool I was really craving.

I have a question/problem though, and hopefully I'm just being a retarded blind ******* ....

... lets say I make an error on one of the entries... how do I go in and erase/modify that error?

I'm not finding an option anywhere to fix a mistake.

Nice hack. A couple problems / suggestions.

The add a new event link should default to the currently selected day.

The scrolling window for month on Jump To opens showing only 11 months. You actually have to scroll for January. Is there a way to show all 12? (Probably the most nit-picking issue)

How about an extra link near Jump To that takes you back to Today?

What about an option to have events display at the top?

'Add a new event' / 'Prune todays events' links should be moved to a better location. At least put them on the same line.

How about future release with display options as to the style of calendar? A more datebook-looking style would be better for most people. Even at 1024x768 I have to scroll down to see today's events. Some design that had more horizontal space for each day would take up less room vertically and would fit on a page better.

Also, shouldn't all hacks that offer some new place to go in your board also include a way to let Who's Online know where you are? That would be a sweet bonus.

Anyway, great mod so far. Hope you're not done making it better. Maybe Infopop will buy your design and make your hack 'official'. Or do they usually just code it from scratch themselves and pull a 'Microsoft'? wink

Once again, I have to say this is one of my favorite hacks for the UBB, and like others have mentioned - I think it should become an integral feature of UBB 6.x+.

I had a few problems implementing this... I used a buggy Multihack version of the 1.6 release which I managed to get running...

The most recent 1.7 release... I tried to install it manually (hand editing all affected whiles as per the instructions in the upgrade.txt file) but the manual hack instructions contained several syntax errors. I succesfully hacked it (on our offline test board) using the 1.7 multihack file. laugh

OK,.. that being said and again, this is a superb hack; for our Blues Music site, we hope to use it to post thousands of events, such as tour schedules for all key blues artists, birth and death dates of blues artists, etc.

We developped a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which allows us to rapidly enter Calendar information, and includes a cell with concatenated information in a format that works with the Calendar hack. I.E. seqserialnumber || a julian date || postedby || eventname || description etc... this works fine, and we paste it into the calender_events.cgi file.

Where trouble arises, is when we paste a large number of events (say 500 plus, with sequential numbers starting at 1000+) into the events.cgi txt file... they appear properly in the Calendar, but if we attempt to "prune" them (edit the event) using the UBB Calendar interface, it causes the server to go into a real panic state.... i.e. after a prune event submit, a blank screen and the server goes into a runaway state.

So the question is this:

Can the events.cgi file be externally populated, and if so, what should the sequential numbering be.

Hope this makes some sense smile

Again, superb hack!!!!

Go to the day that contains the event in question... then select the Prune Today's Events located just beneath the detailled daily events listing at the bottom. The subsequent screen will allow you to edit (or delete) those days events.

DrClark: if there is an error, I can't do anything about it, you have to edit vars_calendar_events.cgi manually.

White Gold:

I think it's some IE thing.

Click on 'calendar' in the top of the page.

I'm not a good designer, but maybe.

ditto

Do you have any suggestions?

In ultimatebb.cgi, after if ($ubb eq 'calendar') {, add:
Code
code:

It's more Jordo's design.

RTM, are you sure seqserialnumber is in the line seqserialnumber? (like 1000 is in line 1000)

Maybe I'll change it soon to be more external-programs-compatible.

ZIP file updated, now there is no $desc[0].

Don't worry, it's not like Calendar Hack 1.5 - 1.6 upgrade, there is upgrade.cgi that removes [0] smile

Please note that if you do not want to use upgrade.cgi, do not upload it, it's a security risk.

UPDATED FILES: ubb_lib_calendar.cgi, upgrade.cgi.

Hi,

I think I have discovered a bug, plus a comment..

First the bug....

If you are in Jan 2002, and go to previous month it goes to December 2000. This has happend on other months as well.

Now the comment...

Also, is it possible to have next / previous months at the top of the calendar as well, on a small screen it is a long way to scroll down the page to skip a couple of months etc.

Great Hack btw - think I preferred the colour scheme in 1.7, but hey that is a minor gripe wink

Cheers.

Canvey.

The color schemes in 1.7 and 1.8 are exactly the same, the only difference is that $desc[0] is removed.

ZIP file updated with a fix, and I want an example of a site with the 'comment'.

Hi,

No problem - the site is at Non League Forums

I thought the background was either white, or a light grey - maybe not - probably been working to hard wink .

My comment was mainly because in 800 * 600 there is a long way to scroll. Also could we make the weekday names a little smaller, again in 800 * 600 they look big, and I guess translated to another language, could cause a slight problem with length.

As I said before a great hack, and it went in very easily - even doing it manually.

Canvey.

Just one other thought, when somone registers, and fills in their Birthday, is there any way to display this is the summary, with perhaps a flag to say - 'Your Birthday will / will not appear in the Calendar'.

I realise it appears in 'edit my profile', but it would be nice in the summary as well.

Regards,

Canvey.

Actually, no, the serialnumber I generated was not necessarily located on the same physical line number... perhaps this is what was causing the problem. I will do some more testing using batch inputting into the events file and let you know how it goes. smile Thanks for the tip.

Just upgrade to v1.8 (upload ubb_lib
_calendar.cgi and upload.cgi and open upgrade.cgi) wink You won't have to make it in the same line.

Yikes, that was a fast response  ...

I decided to Multihack the whole thing using the 180 MHP... it seemed to have gone find... only now I get this error when going to the main calendar page:

confused Thanks again for that quick response.

Hehe - ok ... as you were writing that, I decided to delete everything past line 635 ... and it seems to be working now.

I will continue testing; I just noticed a date problem, -4711 as a year, but now I can't reproduce it.

Man, this is one superb feature!

Ok, found the problem:

When one first enters the calender (from the main ubb link using ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=calendar) the date references for the "next month" and previous month" do not appear to be in proper julian format.

For example, in my case the next month link is
ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=calendar&date=373

and the previous month link is
ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=calendar&date=312

Using "jump to month" works fine, and then the dates are correctly julianised wink
