Hi,
We are running w3t 5.4 php. For reasons beyond our control, the data database was wiped out and could not be restored. A brand new database was created instead. However, when SOME of the old users tried to login they got an error message about 'Username/Password was not found', although they COULD see their name in the Name List. The thing that cures it, strangely, is to access the Forum using Netscape, instead of the usual IE...
What happens? How can we ensure that it does not happen to other users? (we had so far three such cases out of 7)
Many thanks
MC

It sounds like they have some cookies left on their system. So, when they come back to the forums it tries to authenticate them with the cookie information. Switching browsers would work if they were not logged into the forums with the other browser. Unfortunately there isn't a simple fix on the server side for this. Users returning to the forum will need to delete their cookies from your site in order to re-register.

I ran into this same problem. Rather than having them search for the cookies, though, I posted a link to logout.php and had users visit it. Thus, it removed the wwwthreads cookies and allowed them to login to their new accounts.
