How do I change teh background of all pages to black? I am using the blue&black theme and i don't want to affect the tables, just the areas outside the tables.

In the stylesheet of interest, look for the following tag:
BODY {
background: #hexcodehere;
}
Just make sure the hex code is set to #000000 and your backgrounds will be black.
