Now when viewing the user list you can sort your view by the alphabet or number. Here is the example:

http://www.chattersonline.com/test/showmembers.php?Cat=&page=1

The file is called "5.5-userlistsort.1.0.txt" and can be located at my test site in the "File Attachments" list in the upper left menu or click here:

I've probably done something terribly simple wrong... but I think I've done it all correctly. Copied and pasted the code etc...

But I get:
Parse error: parse error in /home/kelly/public_html/forums/showmembers.php on line 184

Any ideas? A zipped copy of my showmembers.php file can be found at http://www.measurection.com/showmembers-php.zip if you wanna see what might be wrong.

You have over written an echo statement. []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/smile.gif[/]

Down by line 184 change this:

</TD></TR>
";

to this:

</TD></TR>
";

echo "

Here's a question...or a tweak to this one.

When you select a Letter, it does show you the users that begin with that..but it reversts to reverse order by username. (ie. ry... is listed before ra....)

Is there a way to have it revert to sorting the letter first to last?

hmmm I haven't noticed but I wasn't paying that close attention... lol but I think if you click on the "Username" heading it will toggle the sort from ascending to descending or back. I'll take a look at things and see why this may be happening []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/smile.gif[/]

I hadn't really noticed it either. A user asked me. Certainly it's easy enough to click Username and switch it, but when I looked at the code...I figured it might be a single character in the code or something that gives it a default.

No hurry...just curious.

PS - I'm going to have to put you on the payroll. lol []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/laugh.gif[/]

Ok I found the cause.. and made the fix.. lol

I haven't posted the updated text file yet to my test site but the reason was in all of the link lines for the alphabet and numbers and ALL there is a reference to sb=$sortuser which should be sb=$sb to make it work right.

This should only be changed in the A-Z and 0-9 and ALL links. []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/smile.gif[/]

I'll post 1.1 right now.. []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/smile.gif[/]
