As these message boards become more like portals people start using them as home pages. So taking an idea from major portal like my.excite.com how about a hack that allows users to add their own Bookmarks and for those bookmarks to display on the Home page in the form of a PAL or as a stand alone include?
Maybe you could extend the "Favorite Forums" section to include external URL's?
Could you use the existing table structure for a user to store url's?
I have thought about this one before. I think an extra field would be needed to designate outside urls when being stored with favorite threads. Pulling the information into a pal box would be easy enough though. []/forum/images/icons/smile.gif[/]
