Hey guys. I've done an upgrade from 5.4 to 6.0 with no problems. Now I have a huge cosmetic problem -- double signatures.

The older versions used to store the signature with the message. So I'm seeing the display of the old message with signature, plus the new feature that tacks on the signature in a separate step.

Is there a way to include a timestamp in the config file to state when the board was upgraded? And then have a query before displaying the messages to check if it came before or after the upgrade? If before, then do not add the new signature field. If after, then go ahead and do it? I imagine this would affect showflat and showthreaded files only.

Or is it possible to wipe out the old sigs from the older messages in any other way but by doing it by hand?

Thanks for yout time guys! And appreciate any suggestions you could come up with.

Does anyone else not like the idea of having dynamic signatures? Or in other words, prefer having the signature frozen with the post? To be honest, I'm surprised this change with signature handling was introduced in 6.0 and I'd be interesting to know why it was brought about.

Something else I'd prefer as well is having an option of whether or not to include one's signature when posting. This is useful when making News posts that also populate the main index of my site because I don't want my signature included with every News post. But with regular posts, I would want it included. For this to work, you'd have to go back to storing static signatures in the w3t_Posts table.

Finally, color markup doesn't seem to work with signatures as of v6.0.1.

Sorry for the part wish-list, part bug report post.

Some of us have indicated a preference for static signatures in other threads. I think it really depends on the board, I see benefits to both ways. In my situation I'd like static though.

That would be useful at times.

I think it's because you are using the old color markup tags. I reported this awhile back.
