My users are begging for avatars they can upload, because many don't have websites, or they use hosts that you can't directly link to pics from so they can't have avatars. Just something simple like VB uses is all that's needed. Just allow people to go to their profile, select the upload option, pick the file, make sure it fits within the given requirements, and its all set. That's all I ask

Do you mean so they can use that for their "picture" in their profile? If so the option to upload a graphic such as .jpg or .gif or .png is already an option. In your config.inc.php find these lines and edit accordingly:
// If allowing pictures you can also let users upload these pictures to your // server. By specifying a path this will allow users to upload .gif, .jpg // or .png files to that directory. You must make the directory // world_writeable as well. If no path specified, then users will need to // provide a url to their picture. $config['avatars'] = "/users1/c/chattersonline.com-03029/public_html/test/images";
// If a path was specified above, we need to know the full url to that // directory (Partial url will not work) $config['avatarurl'] = "http://www.chattersonline.com/test/images";
// If allowing users to upload their pictures, enter the maximum size // in bytes. $config['avatarsize'] = "20000";
Or is this something else such as an "avatar gallery" that you are suggesting?

actually, let me try that. That would probably work. I don't see the need for a gallery really since most people want to post pictures of their vehicles, who wants to have someone elses vehicle under their name? haha Thanks for the help! [EDIT] edited out my own stupidity

ok, got that working.. now one last question and I'll shut up It now says "Your picture (80x80 max pixels, may be smaller) (.gif, .jpg, .png accepted) " just above where to select your image. I want to disable the pixel requirement and make it say no bigger than 12000 bytes or whatever my filesize may be instead. I looked through the config file, don't see that anywhere

You may set the maximum width and height for the pictures in "Edit Theme Settings".
The problem is, I believe that setting to something higher is dangerous because if I am not wrong, when displaying the pictures in your posts, the maximum width and height is put into it. Maybe there should be another option, asking what weight and height to show the pictures in. Not necessarily the width and height you allow to upload.
