How about a editor in the admin menu like the template editor, but you can edit the php files. Plus having it automatically backup every file (php & tmpl) that you edit by renaming it to xxx.php.bak1, xxx.php.bak2 etc. or something like that. And an option to restore last backup too while we're at it!
awesome suggestion. I hate FTPing to my server everytime I want to add a hack, it would be nice if there was an option to edit the php files just like the templates and stylesheets Although maybe not a good idea to be standard since people who don't hack their boards may mess something up, but at least a hack for us
