Maybe my description doesn't do it justice:

Here is a screenshot of What a user can input into their Block:

Ah, so basically the user can put whatever they want in, and it only shows up to them? Like maybe they could use this for their bookmarks or notes to themself or something?

[edit] Ok, looking over the first post again, is this box just printing out the info from their profile? Like their home page, bio, etc.? [/edit]

You got it right the first time Lisa.

I personally will be using it for bookmarks.

I installed this (took a couple tries, mostly dumb mistakes on my part ). I like it. I have a couple questions:

1. You have it set to tinytext. Is there a specific reason for this? It only allows for 256 characters. I know I wouldn't have it up more than 5 minutes and everyone would be wanting to know, "How can I add more stuff to it?"

2. When I tried to enter more than 256 characters, I got a mySQL error. Yuck Maybe have a "you entered too much stuff" type error message?

3. If the tinytext is designed so it won't completely distort the index page, would it be possible to have a "click here for the full page" type link, similar to how it already limits posts?

4. This isn't a question, just a minor typo in the instructions:
Your directions say:
code:
20. Find:
*************************************************************
U_PicHeight = '$imageheight',
*************************************************************
21. Add After:
*************************************************************

But my line looks like this:
code:
U_PicHeight = '$imageheight'

[:"red"](no comma after the '$imageheight')[/]

adding it wasn't a problem but you might want to mention to add it.

* I should mention that although it looks like I just nitpicked it to death, I actually really like it. If I didn't I would have just gone on to the next project.

Well Lisa,

I have spent half my day trying to come up with a way to truncate the block after 255 characters.......

To no avail

I will continue to look into that feature but for now I have updated the instructions to make the table TEXT instead of TINYTEXT and fixed the instructions error that you found (and a very similar one).

Allen if you could replace the original file that would be great

Oh heavens, you're making me feel guilty! It's not that big of a deal. If someone else thinks it's a good idea maybe they will look at it.

It's really a great hack!

Not trying to make you feel guilty. Your suggestions are good.

I am using the philosophy "Learn as you Go." So it is taking me a while longer.

If a guru wants to jump it I wouldn't be offended.
