Users on my board always seem to think I'm the one who replied to their post, and they email me back asking more things because the email comes from my email (the first user). Maybe there could be a way to choose which email address it comes from?

Or put something like "THIS IS AN AUTOMATED EMAIL RESPONSE. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE."

. . . Would be nice

I just fixed this my self. in your language file under addpost.php there is a section toward the bottom where you can modify the language that appears before the link in the body of the email...

I said esentially the same thing DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL.

Would be nice if there were a template to handle this..

I tried this on my site...

At the top I put
DO NOT REPLY THIS THIS EMAIL
and that wasnt enough.

So i put it at the top AND the bottom... Didnt help.. I even changed the Subject of the email with a (DO NOT REPLY) prefix. Didnt help either. People are stupid. Plain and simple.

I eventually had to edit the email functions to send PM notices with a fake From: email address so they COULDNT reply.

I chose this method because if they reply and get their email returned they more likely to finally understand they must reply to the PM, not to the notification.

This also stopped the bounced emails I got when PM notifications went to invalid/old/closed emails..

Granted these are drastic measures, but when you get thousands of members all doing the same dumb crap it gets old...

hmm, maybe putting their email in the "from" line would help.. any replies would come back to them

Hey, that's a good idea, I think I'll do that myself, along with the DO NOT REPLY text all over. At the moment one of my other admins is kind enough to answer all emails with instructions on how to answer, but I doubt he can keep it up for very long.
