If someone attaches a pc file (jpg/gif/bmp) to their post, this will just display that picture inside the post instead of making them click on the attachment link to download it.
It's always good to post such info in the first post, less confusion and all, you can check our posting guidelines if you have any questions. Will take less effort for you to support your mods since it answers so many questions up front.

The only down side to such a setup is that you're really going to eat up bandwidth.
From a server side with a fixed bandwidth per month quota you'll smoke through your limit a lot faster with inline images. Not to mention that the thread will load slower the more inline images you have.
But I have 4GB a month trasfer rate and have never even come close. My page is not a HUGE community like some of yours, but it may get there over time. Then I will worry about it.
Plus I don't have banners or ads, you could consider the loading of those equivelant to the bandwidth loading an image inline would be.
