Here is an other "how do I" question:
I want to install the Index Page on my forum (threads 6.1.1)
All install well till the point I want to config it.
The setup manual says that I have to click on the IIP copyright link but nothing happens.
The only thing I see when I load the index page to my browser is a box with :

We are currently updating this page...

Admins please note: The cookie path is not set site wide. This page must reside in the same directory as UBB.threads™ or cookies must be set site wide for this page to validate visitor access.

If I set the "/" the admins note disappaers but stil there is no link to enter the config section.
So, my question is: how can I get to the config part of this setup.
thanks in advance
Foppen

I looked at your profile's home page listing but didn't see IIP anywhere. Judging by the forum in use at your website I would say that the problem is that you are not displaying the copyright information in your footer. The link for IIP setup is added to that information. I would suggest placing the copyright information back in the footer as the easiest solution.

Thank you for youre quick reply.

I see, you looked at the forum that's running at this time. Yes, I did remove the copyright info there.

But I have an original setup on the "localhost".
No changes made there, just for trieying out this IIP.
This is what the footer shows:

UBB.threads™ 6.1.1
.: IIP 5.1 by David Lozier ©2002 :.

The UBB image gives a link but the "David Lozier"sign does not show up as a link.
what can I do next?

Are you logged in as an administrator and are the cookies site wide? The link should be there if these two requirements are met. Also note that the cookies do not have to be site wide *if* the IIP index is located in your .threads directory.

I set cookies to "wide".
Still there is this box saying: We are currently updating this page...

B.t.w, what is the use of being logged on as an administrator?
If I start op my browser and type: http://127.0.0.1/ubbthreads/index.php
Than I get this:

UBB.threads™ Infopop Corporation.

Index | Zoeken | Registreren | Inloggen | Wie is er online? | FAQ | Ledenlijst

Index Closed

We are currently updating this page...

Contact Us Title for link

UBB.threads™ 6.1.1
.: IIP 5.1 by David Lozier ©2002 :.

Or do I have to go into the configfile using the admin menu???

You see, I am what you call a real newbie!

Foppen,

Delete all cookies from you computer and try again. I did not see you list your admin access on your post above which should be before the index if you are indeed logged in as an admin. I would say you have a corrupt cookie.

Try that and if worst comes to worse you can simply manually edit the config file and upload it.

I did deleted all coockies, same result.
I think I am doing something wrong.
I logged in as an administrator and that works ok.
I see now in the links "admin" and can acces the admin menu.
But than I load the index.php in my browser and than the "admin" disappears.

when I load http://127.0.0.1/ubbthreads/pals/editconfigpal.php
it says that I am not logged in as an administrator, but I still am.

Well, []Try that and if worst comes to worse you can simply manually edit the config file and upload it. [/]
can you point me out how to do this?
wich file and what sould I edit ?

I did a complete new install.
Threads runs on a localhost inside my network on 127.0.0.1 for expiremental use.
I put the IPP 5.1 pals folder into the threads folder.
Index.php is also in the threads folder.
Set the path.
Logged in as admin.
Called http://127.0.0.1/ubbthreads/index.php
and all I see is the box saying: We are currently updating this page...
When I click on the copyright thing from infopop my pointer change into a hand, but when I click on the copyright-sign of IIP nothing happens.
As I read from the setup reader only this link can access the config file from IIP.
I know I am doing something stupidly wrong, if I only knew what it was.......

any suggestions????

Are you testing on a windows box? I couldn't get cookies to work using my local IP on my XP setup. Perhaps someone else has set it up locally on a windows box and can explain what's going wrong. If it's not on a windows box then I'm at a loss. It should work fine provided the cookies are site wide and your logged in as an admin. The pages use the .threads authentication calls so if .threads is working they should be two...

Yes, I am testing on windowsXP Pro, apache webserver, MySql database.
The computer is online now till 8 hours after now!

Final question,
this is how it looks, i put the testforum online
http://213.46.82.59:81/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php

IPP should be configerd by clicking the copyright sign at http://213.46.82.59:81/ubbthreads/index.php

Am I right?

Yep that's correct.

You should be able to click on .: IIP 5.1 by David Lozier ©2002 :. if your logged in as an admin.

I'm sure it's a cookie issue of some sort in relation to your local machine. I have had problems with cookie auth on my local machine as well. Have you tried using sessions? Perhaps that will work.

The testforum runs on a cable connection now and I work on a adsl connection.
So, I see the testforum as a outside machine.
I deleted all cookies, reset the computer but stil there is no link showing up.
Is there a way to enter the configfile by hand?

I also plan to upgrade to 6.2 by christmas, maybe I should wait till you finish the IIP 5.2???

If you edit editconfigpal.php and doeditconfigpal.php and remove this line:

code:

if ($user['U_Status'] != "Administrator"){
$html -> not_right ("You must be logged in and be an Administrator to access this.",$Cat);
}

You should be able to access editconfigpal.php directly.

I think I see the problem.... you said:
[]I set cookies to "wide".
[/]

When we say sitewide... cookies should be set to / (simply a slash) that makes them work through the whole site.
