Install tip for 5.3 - make sure your Pals directory is writable or else the config file won't be created.

Also, question.

I set this up here:
http://199.231.148.190/ubbthreads/index.php?Cat=

The shoutbox doesn't work. The board is created and an entry gets made in the Posts table..... but the body and subject is blank.

Are you using "force public"? Perhaps removing a box or two that are not that important to you for your index or just increasing their cache times so they are not updated as often would help. You may also want to exclude some public boards if you are using "force public" to limit the amount of data that's accessed to speed things up as well.

Josh is there a way I can see the configure panel for that? I think I know what the problem is but need to see the settings for shoutbox. Thanks.

I must have missed shoutboxadd/shoutboxdel.php when adding the work-around for register globals being off. I'll update them and upload the zip in the morn.

This should fix that problem.

I may sleep in late... lol

So I updated the IIP 5.3 zip in the main post of this thread to include the modified shoutdisplaypal/shoutaddpal/shoutdelpal.php scripts.

Just download the zip and upload those 3 files and you should be good to go. I also switched off anonymous shoutbox use while testing at your site. You may want to turn that back on.

I'm confuzzled about this one.

When I'm at editconfigpal.php and I click on the Update button at the bottom, I get the following SQL errors:

Warning: fopen("/home/drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/configpal.php", "w") - Permission denied in /drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/doeditconfigpal.php on line 750

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/doeditconfigpal.php on line 751

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/doeditconfigpal.php on line 752

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/doeditconfigpal.php:750) in /drumlin/public_html/threads/pals/doeditconfigpal.php on line 755

I don't have a file called configpal.php

I fixed it. I CHMODED the pals directory to 777. Did I miss this in the directions somewhere? And should I keep it 777?

It used to be in the instructions. I took it out when I had it automatically check to see if it was writable. But now that there is no configpal.php script in the package I can't check it to see if it's writable untill it's created or something. Perhaps chmod'n the pals directory during setup would suffice. Do keep it set to world readable/writable so it can be edited when needed.

Is there a way to have 2 occurances of the IIP? I would like to use one as the Home page with News pulled from the fourms and general information, then another copy as a Forum index with all the Birthdays, Top... and other options.

If IE is reporting an error it's probably javascript related. There was nothing done to the javascript in this update so check and see if there are other javascripts or other html that may be causing a problem.

I figured out what was happening to my ENTRANCE link and linking problems in MENUPAL.PHP. I can't help thinking that others must have had or will have the same problem....

The ENTRANCE link code that has to be added to ubbt_registered.tmpl ( <a href = "{$config['homeurl']}/index.php?Cat=$Cat">Entance</a> ) is grabbing the homeurl from the $config['homeurl'] of Threads' config.inc.php (as you pointed out to me before, Dave). The trouble with that is that (in my case, anyway), I placed the URL of my site rather than the specific Threads installation URL in that field. So when the "Entrance" is clicked, it goes to a non-existent index.php. Another subsequent problem arises in the MENUPAL.PHP in that a few links (like the Profile Index) use that same $config['homeurl'], so they also didn't work in my case.

ALSO (unrelated):

in profilepal.php, lines 320 and 435 say:

FROM w3t_Users

...but I use a different table prefix, so it can't find that table and produces an error.

Should it include $config['tbprefix'] = "XXX"; in there somewhere??

Anyway I'm all fixed-up and going now! Thanks for all your hard work Dave. I appreciate it.

Oops... that w3t_ should have been replaced with {$config['tbprefix']} to work with .threads 6.0 and newer. Not sure how I missed that. I did a global replace on them at one time...

I'll update the zip after this post. Thanks.

*bump*

Updated IIP's zip to include the new profilepal.php script to fix the hard coded "w3t_" table extentions being used.

IIP shouldn't have affected your forums in that manor. I upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3 here at threadsdev in a few minutes with no problems. What version did you upgrade from? Did you run the modify database script? What did it say?

With that error sounds like you need to clear your cookies and relog into Threads.

Why I asked was that this line:

Table 'w3t_iipcache' already existsCache table created

has w3t_IIPcache in all lower case. I thought that perhaps that was why it didn't see that the cache table was already installed.

Strange...

Yes it is.

What I don't understand is that IIP failed to see that the cache table was already installed so it tried to install it again but of course failed because it already existed. I will be adding the check for lower case letters as well. Usually the lower case letters come from MySQL on a IIS server during backup/dumps of the database. When moved to a unix server the lower case table names don't match the upper case ones.

In the initial setup is the link to modify your database. I can't seem to see how it didn't recognize that you already had a cache table and that it should have upgraded 5.1 cache to 5.3 cache. It instead tried to install the cache table as if the old one didn't exist.

That should work but I still would like to know why it didn't see that the table already existed so I can keep it from happening again.
