Do you have the "force public" option on at the top?

Possibly could be do to having to many required fields to qualify for display? Uncheck all of the boxes in the configure panel related to the random profile required fields and see if that helps.

On a side note, to keep the random profile box from going blank just check to see if the update query grabbed anything and if it's empty don't update. Hope that made sense... lol

Yes, I have "force public" on at the top as I have several private forums.

I only had 2 fields checked, but I tried unchecking them, and it still didn't work. It will show when the cache refreshes. And I'm a bit lost on the update quiery thing...

I checked my SQL database, and there is info in the RandProfile Cache, so why doesn't the script use it?

If the 'use cache' option for the random profile has a number other than 0 in it then it should be using cache.

I've lost track of exactly what's being discussed, but is the known problem with the IIP cache relevant here?

Nope, not exactly. From what I gather *nothing* is being added to cache for the random profile.

It's set on 1440. It seems to be writing TO cache, but not reading FROM cache.

Just off the note, While looking at the IPPCache table, I noticed nothing was being written to the poll fields even though they are set to use cache.

I've seen some goofiness before from time to time on a few sites.

Sometimes dropping the IIPCache table and recreating it has fixed this.

(ie something - a timestamp etc... - is messed up).

Might be worth a try.

Funny, I actually did that a while ago with no success, but I'll give it another try.

Nope, didn't work. The Random Profile still disapears after the cache is written.

The poll fields are there for my future attempt at getting them to store and update correctly while being functional. For now there not used because I just didn't have enough time to get it working right.

OK, didn't know if maybe it was part of the problem or not. Setting the Random Profile to 0 gets it to show, but it changes every time the page loads.

Try 10 or 20 minutes. There is a flaw in the current cache system in which it's possible that cache is never updated on a high traffic site. Your setting of 1440 may have been to long and thus it was never expired to be updated. If that makes sense. PhotoPost made the patch to fix this problem. Try searching for PhotoPost - IIP cache - and see that brings up the post.

I tried both the fix and lowering the cache time, and it still didn't work.

What I don't understand is the cached HTML is in my database....

What would cause the date of the post to show 12/31/69 07:00 pm on the IIP page? The actual date of the post is 07/04/03.

Earlier versions of threads used that date for "sticky" posts. That was changed in version 6.2 and up.

IIP didn't interpret this correctly (and/or older versions of threads didn't un-stick the stuff back to the right date).

What version of threads are you using?

I don't know why it's still showing up for you. As of 6.2 a flag was added to tag sticky posts, so that the date of the post did not need to be altered.

I made a change in the IIP Configure Panel to move the pal box #3 from the side to the middle. After updating the settings the page has a bar with "Index Closed" and a "We are currently updating this page..." message. Going back in the Configure Panel the old setting is still there. I copied the original pal box back over but still get the index closed message.

In the configure panel towards the top is the selection for open/closed Open?

The forum is open. I found out that the configpal.php keeps getting written out as 0 bytes. I copied a backup back over but it will get written out as 0 bytes if I user the Configuration panel to update the settings.

Hi guys,

Just added the "Show users in chat1.0" to our board, works great but only shows up on the chat page, really could do with drawing people in from the "Entrance"...

How easy would it be to add the script to IIP, at least that way when people arrive at the start page "Entrance", they may be tempted to go into the chat room...

Thanks In Advance

Brett

Are you using the mod that I wrote that places it under the menu bar of threads. If that's the case it will appear on all threads pages (including IIP).

How do you know it doesn't appear anywhere else?

It can't only appear in the chat page if it's part of the menu - that template is common to every page. It's all or nothing by design.

How are you checking it? Are you going into chat then opening a new window yourself?

Who's online updates each time a page loads in threads. It's based on the most recently loaded script in the person's browser. So even if you go into chat and open a new window with the entrance page - your most recent who's onlin entry will show up at the entrance. You'll no longer show in chat.

Is that how you're checking it?

You need someone else to go into chat - stay there and not load anyother windows. Then you can check. It won't be accurate the minute people open up another window. That's my hunch on what you're doing.

Another good way to check is to use another browser say Opera login with another user - go to chat - and then you will have two connections at the same time to your forums However be careful as depending upon which chat service you are using you might get a 7 day ban for having two logins at the same time to the chat room itself, from the same IP

I loggin in on broadband on one machine and logged in as myself... Loggod onto chat...

Turned on laptop and logged onto Net using dial up...

The entrance displyed the "1 User In Chat", Was my other PC...

Logged onto BBS, message about chat users had gone, just normal title bar in both entrance and main index, but when i went into chat page, it was back...

Went onto other PC, the braodband one, both were logged into chat, yet title bar said "1 user in chat"

The only other way I can get this message to pop up is in the entrance for a new user, only once, never comes on again, except if you go into the chat page....

I have cleared the cache, everything....

I am no PHP whizz as you have guessed, but this is weird....

Hi,

Maybe this is staring me in the face, but I can't figure it out

I am trying to reset the figures display under max members/guests online - and can't figure out where this figure is stored or derived from.

Any thoughts?

Try this query:

UPDATE w3t_IIPcache
SET Ca_ShortStats = ''

I think that will work.

There are certain open forums that the Current Threads doesn't seem to pick up on, I checked the config and didn't see anything for that, any ideas?
