Updated for UBB Threads 6.2

What is it: A hack to make the output of dosearch.php a little more like the "Active Topics" link in UBB Classic.

An example can be seen here.

Looks cool. What exactly is this doing?

Is it removing all the Replies from the search? Searches seemed cleaner to me.

Indeed - the differnce between UBB & Threads, is that threads will display all the posts including the replies in the last 24 hours, last 48 hours etc.

But UBB has always only displayed the first post, which as you say gives a cleaner look - afterall it could be argued that if you do not like the first post, you will not be interested in the replies.

The biggest problem for UBB, is that each night at midnight (board time) the latest posts list is wiped - not much fun for people browsing the site at around that time. (I am hoping that this mod does not do that same LOL )

It's only displaying the latest reply in a thread, and not all of the replies in a single thread.

It doesn't "roll over" at midnight, it's a true "last 24 hour" search. In fact the active topics search in UBB Classic has been fixed in the latest vesion (it no longer rolls over at midnight).

Thanks for the correction - glad to see UBB has finally corrected one of the most annoying features

To me it's easier to see all of the threads that have been posted to.

Thanks ! I feel the need of this !
BUT I don't want to "loose" the new style so I did a small change: I made a copy of dosearch.php, renamed it as dosearch2.php and edited it as your instructions.
Than I put both the links to dosearch.php and dosearch2.php in my side menu as something like:
dosearch.php --> Today's messages
dosearch2.php --> Today's discussions

So I keep all the versions and the people will choose the one they prefer

If you want to see it go here --> www.inpiega.com <--
Sorry but it's in Italian only

Molto grazie! I did the same thing for a while, but everyone likes the Classic search results better.

Ciao!

He he he, you're right, most of the people prefer the .Classic style.

I want to report to you my personal feedback about your mod:
I think that the result should show the last poster of a topic and not the author... can you manage to do this ?

I have a problem I think - the search doesn't even search the replies anymore. I'd want a search engine that searches all topics and replies, but only shows the topic.

Right now, it only searches the first post in a thread I think.

I was thinking the same thing. I'll see what I can do.

I need some help refining this hack. I'd like for the poster to be the last person who posted to a thread, and for the date to be the date that the last reply was made.

Any takers?
