How can i read out the UBB cookie for the following reason:

I'd like a login form at my index page where users can normaly log into the pinboard - when they are logged in and they go back to the index page, i would like to have a message like "hello xxx - you are logged into the community" and a logout button... is it possible??

You could user javascript on any page to look for the cookie and if present have it write the "welcome user" text and create a logout link/button that pointed towards the .threads logout.php page.

Not sure how to write the scrip. But Dave.... is the username stored in the cookie any more, or has that been switched to number as well? If so, you wouldn't be able to say "hello xxx" without doing a query and getting the person's name.

ahh yeah that's true. It's user number now. You would have to make threads set an additional cookie with their display name as well. No additional queries would be needed then.

sounds good ;-) But how does is work? Do you have any example files or something? i have no plan how to do it
