It might seem sort of redundant, but I'd love to run a Threads-compatible Guestbook on my site in addition to the message board. I run a fansite, and get tons of surfers just passing through who might be willing to sign a Guestbook to leave a comment, whereas they don't want to go through the entire process of signing up for the message board. Also, I don't really want to have hundreds of signups for my board if they're just folks who want to leave one note, and then they never come back again.
A Guestbook would be a "warm-up" for the shy ones, too. If it had a similar layout to Threads, it might encourage someone to try posting on the board eventually, too.

Why not make a "Guestbook board" where anonymous users have write acess without need of signing up to the board? You can do that...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Do you have a link to a guestbook that you like? Maybe a threads forum could be simplified (almost like a permanant shout box) to be a guest book.

The shoutbox PAL is basically a guestbook... could the shoutbox be used, or if you don't use IIP then somehow get that PAL to work on its own?

[/] This is the guestbook I'm using right now: http://www.iyarilimon.com/simpgb/guestbook.phpI like the "international flags" feature, and the instant avatars -- sort of gives the poster a personality even before you read what they write. I use this one because it's one of the nicer-looking ones I could find, although you can see it doesn't look remotely like Threads.

That is pretty cool. Probably possible with some hacking to threads.... maybe a separate table to hold all the other guestbook info (since it allows you to search by the different fileds, etc..) That would definately be a cool add on to threads. Not sure when, but if I ever find myself bored LOL that would be fun.

I still remember the old Infopop guestbook "Ultimate Guestbook". For its time was really nice.
I think this would be a great addition to UBBT.
