Mod Name / Version - Remove Traces 1.0

Description - This modification allows you to delete individual posts without leaving behind the "Deleted by..." tag. What it does is assign any replies to the deleted post to the Main (first) post in a thread. When deleting a post, you have a checkbox option to "remove all traces" and reassign any replies.

NOTE: This may not make as much sense in threaded view... but if you MUST remove a post without the "deleted by tag" (for example doing some board clean up) it's a way to do it without having to delete the replies first. Since it's an option when you delete a post, it could easily be a feature of Threads, as many people ask how to avoid the placeholder.

I was wondering why some posts that get deleted do not dissappear they remain with the "Deleted by..." tag. Can you explain the reason for that again for me?>I always thought it was a bug.

N/M I re-read your post and I understand now. Cool Hack Josh.. I will be using that one for sure. I am getting so many hacks on my board I will be afraid to do any upgrades in the future ..lol

Yeah, if there are replies to it, you can't delete it, or it will "break" threaded mode.

This mod takes any replies to the post you want to delete and changes them to be replies to the first post in the thread. Might not make 100% sense when viewing in threaded mode... but allows the removal of all traces of the post.

I wonder if it would be better to parent the orphaned replies to the parent of the deleted post, rather than to the main post. That might do less damage to the threaded view.

That's a theory too.
