The ability for users to write there own blog on the forum. It could be a link in the profile or something where it takes you to the users own page which has logs which they have written.

Not sure how much work this would need...

This can increase the forum community by brining them together on subjects in there life which the other might never of known about. Also gives posters a place to vent, instead of doing it in the posts

I am thinking this would turn out to be a rather large modification, that is, unless a pre-made one like greymatter was just ported to use the threads members/styles like photopost

I'm going to be looking into the livejournal software to potentially integrate with threads. I haven't had a chance to download it though.

I need to look at the real "features" of a blog, and see if it's worth it to use something else, or create my own.

Has anyone given any more thought to this idea? I think it would be an excellent addon to threads!

A really good blog would be more a standalone application than an addon to threads. In my opinion, integrating an existing and mature blog would be the way to go. You could use the .threads user-db for authentication and change the layout of the blog so that it fits into your threads installation.

and you could get to their blog via their profile or the user list, OR, they could choose to make it private only...

Integrated blogger, although still have work to do. But thought I'd let you know it was in progress.

Photopost, I too was looking at that NewLife Blogger but not being PHP proficient I wasn't sure how to get the User/Pass integration...

Mind passing along that info?

When I get it all done - it's actually turning into a fairly large rewrite as you basically have to strip out the login and registration and then integrate with the threads database. Also, the whole system is based on usernames and it had to be converted to user numbers.

I'm also added "self moderation" so owners of blogs can delete comments they dont want in their blog.

I'll post it when I get it wrapped up and functional.

heya Phot hows the Blogger coming?

Well, from the link above you can see I put one up, butother than this one blog, nobody seem interested so I stopped working on it. The intergation wasn't as smooth as I would like - so I didn't persue documenting it. I think I chose the wrong program to begin with. If I get back around to this, I'm going to try another blog as the foundation.

I have a blog system written for Mambo Open Source and I am working on a Mambo <-> UBB.threads integration but I'm not sure when I can get the integration finished though.
