Mod Name / Version: Quick Reply 4.1

Description: This modification adds a "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of the showflat and showthreaded pages, allowing you to quickly compose and submit your reply from the same page. It does allow you to adjust the post icon, preview your post and even checks your spelling. This mod encourages participation and adds ease of use to new users.

Version 4 adds the ability to preview the post icon using the drop down menu and built in support to support the "Re: Username" feature which was returned to flat mode in 6.3.

I also fixed a bug where Special Characters were breaking the Subject, thus cutting it off at a quote mark etc..., and fixed a bug which easily allowed users to inadvertently submit a blank post.

Working Under: UBB.Threads 6.3

Mod Status: Beta

Any pre-requisites: UBB.Threads 6.3 - Also file uploads must be on in your php.ini file, or else this mod doesn't work properly.

Hey folks....

What on earth would cause my quick reply to stop working? I haven't added anything in ages. It just seems to have stopped working on it's own. It gives the message "All of the required fields are not filled in". Anyone have a clue??

Ok... anyone... This problem did happen when I moved the board to a new hard drive on my machine.... I don't see why this would be a problem but maybe it's something to do with this...Maybe I should try installing the old version of quick reply....hmmmm

Are file uploads on in the php.ini file. We've seen this not work under certain PHP.ini settings like that.

I don't know why, but when file uploads were off in the php.ini file, we got that "all fields not filled in error".

That's something I should look at. I just installed a brand new test version and the same problem occurs. Also, I can't upload graemlins either. It tells me I must specify a ubbcode which of course I did.... Where the heck do I find the php.ini file??

Ok.... changed that file and yes... They were turned off. But the problem is still there with quick reply and the graemlins.... pulling my hairs out 1 at a time......

Ok Josh.... once again you figured it out... I decided to try stopping Apache and then restarting it and that made the changes to my php.ini file take effect..... Thanks man!!!!!!! :D:D

Did you restart Apache. Sounds like an all around upload problem. Still don't know really why Quick Reply cares... but the changes in php.ini file don't take effect until you restart apache.

Doah.... your last post was on the next page.

I'm reminded now... I helped someone here with it, and I was stumped for a while. I need to add that "requirement" for the hack.

Ah ha - the last time I had that trouble was with Rackspace. I think they changed their default. My last hard drive change a couple of months ago - I had to turn it on. Go figure. Did it fix the graemlin issue too?

I am getting a parsing error in both flat and threaded views - that points the error to the last line of code.

It says the error is in the templates for threaded and flat.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $end in TEMPLATE at last line.

Any suggetions.

Double check the instructions that you add stuff where you're supposed to add - and replace stuff where you are supposed to replace.

I've done that before - replaced stuff where the instructions say to add stuff below.

I have it completely set up and working, but even in threaded mode, it returns the users to a flat view after posting.

Is this something that can be fixed (to default to threaded)or is it part of the code?

Thanks for your assistance.

Is there any way to have this be a toggle to show, like the user can say if they want the quick reply box to show or not... Some kind of toggle from their profile?

Great mod by the way!

I am attaching a copy of the instructions that includes what to search for if you are using the facelift templates. I haven't attempted to apply the facelift to the code being added in as that is beyond me. Just thought someone might find it usefull.

I've attached an updated instruction for use with UBB.Threads 6.4

I hope this is okay with you Josh.

I have tested it on my beta site and it's working just fine.

Anyone know why my graemlin panel would stop working for quick reply?

I get that little yellow triangle with the exclamation point in it on the bottom left of my browser status bar followed by javascript:void(0) when I click on the "Use Graemlins" link???
