To run a javascript from a thread it would have to allow HTML in that forum. A safer alternative way would b create a regex and code it into Threads to allow a script ubb tag. However this is not safe but safer if you only let a few people who use JAVA know about the command.

I did allow HTML in this forum but it stil didn't run, I dunno.
I am going to be the only one posting in this forum, i.e. no one else will be able to reply would this still be unsafe?
If I can not run Java from a thread is there a way so when you click on a thread it goes to a html page?

OK, what I want to do is run some ebay affiliate code from the forum (javascript), here is the code:

<script language="javascript" src="http://lapi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?EKServer&ai=k+fapcp&prvd=1&track=1285398&srchdesc=y&si=&catid=&minprice=&maxprice=&endtime=y&numbid=y&width=600&height=0&num=25&popup=y&query=K5%20Blazer&hdrcolor=FF9900&bdrcolor=C0C0C0&fs=0&fntcolor=000000&siteid=0&sortby=endtime&sortdir=asc"></script>

And here is what it should look like outputted to an html page:

Tips:

1. The <script></script> code should be copied as one single line and then pasted. It will split at the spaces in the line but that's ok.

2. Do not preview your post or <br /> tags will be added to the post which means the places your single line of code is split will be broke by the break <br /> tags.

3. Didn't eBay get sued for the "buy it now" button? (ok this isn't a tip, just curious)

Well, that's weird, I have allow HTML set through the admin panel and it is on one line and I did not preview but it still doesn't work.

When making the post did you select "using HTML" from the drop down menu as well?

No, because I am an Idiot.
Sweet, it works now One question though, will allowing HTML in a forum where I am the only one that posts still be safe?

If your the admin (as you should be on your own site) you don't need to enable HTML on a forum level to be able to use it yourself. You can always post in HTML

Okay Dave got ya answered. It worked for me on my test forum so you have no worries as Dave said. Being the admin and the only one doing it you can do it anytime you want.

I was actually having a problem with adding Ebay scripts to my site yesterday. This will make for some good reading. Thanks!
