I've seen this on other types of forums. You gain money basied on the number of posts. At the top there is a Shop where you can buy a item (that shows up in your profile) and other things, like a glowing username color and even changing your user name. Stuff like that.

I did a highlight/shadow username/title hack here - which someone was using for that purpose. But the admin had to assign it.

Interesting... but this could become a big problem with users posting hundreds of small "haha", "I like it" stupid posts... Maybe it could go combined with this other post that suggests automatic rating of users by post quality. If a user is a good member (in the sense that hi's posts really contribute to the community) then we could have each of his posts count more points. Users posts with poor ratings would have fewer points for each post they make. Does that make sense? It does to me...
