why not have this feature, where the admin can send a PM to all users at once to inform them of a certain news or something. VBulletin have that feature why not us??!!?

The PM feature isn't made for mass sending, cause the PM is stored for every single user in the database.
To spread news, you can either send out a mass-mail or put a news section on your board. There's a hack to display announcements on top of the forums.

I'm thinking of an additional hack that displays a news site to every user during login if he hasn't read it yet. But I'm just planning this at the moment.

It's pretty bad practice... as that's what a forum is for. If you have 10000 users, by sending one PM to everyone, in one step you bloat your database by 10000 lines.

Not sure if you're trying to do something special or not..... but if you must, why don't you use the hack to do this?

But use caution.... as too much "bloat" to your database will slow you down.

For the reason Josh mentioned, I would reccomend you use an SQL command to turn everybody "on" to receiving community bulletins and send all users an email from the Admin control panel, if it's really that important.

But the "obvious modification" is there (posted link above).

"Search" is your friend.

This is the modification suggestion forum. Are you asking for something other than the mod that's here?

oops thanks josh. and that what I meant with an obvious modification, I should have realized that someone already thought of it. You are right, maybe I should have searched first, but I did go through the finished mods list, hmm, maybe I missed it. Thanks . You guys are doing great
