Description: This hack expands the notification of Private Messages via email by showing you the actual message, and who it is from inside the email. Great way to keep up with your PMs when you don't have time to browse the site, and an excellent way to save PMs before they are purged from the database by the admins. Also changes the subject of the email to contain the actual subject of the PM as I sometimes have 50 "You Have New Messages" messages. If you have email notification of Private Messages on, and you click "save a copy" when sending a PM, a copy to save will be emailed to you.

I just did this mod on a 6.4 install, and sent a test message to myself. While I did receive a copy of the PM in my email, the subject line still only read, "You have new messages". Something I did wrong, or something that needs to be tweaked for 6.4?
After upgrading to 6.4.1, e-mail notifications in HTML format aren't being converted; i.e., the raw code is displayed. FYI, this is the only item where the HTML isn't converted, e.g., Subscriptions, post replies, PM Mailer - 6.4, etc., are all being sent fine in HTML format.
Thought you might want to know. But, perhaps this is unique to my Board??

Artificial Intelligence is no match for natural stupidity!
This mod was never really written to take advantage of the user preference for email. It should, but haven't had a client request that and so I've never rewritten this.
So currently, this simply sends the email plain text.
This has become an issue on my recently upgraded board. If users choose the "In HTML" option for their how they want their emails, they get a link that gets them an SQL error. As we all know, not all of our users are "saavy" enough to figure out what the problem is and to cut and paste the proper part of the link into their browser. Consequently, I'm getting bombarded with posts and emails complaining that "there is a problem with the board". The fix is easy... switch to "In plain text"... but some of my users aren't that bright either... ... and even a post telling them to do that, goes ignored by at least 50%.
Any way to "fix" this without having to rely on my members?
I'd have to rewrite this to use the email function in threads and use thier mail preference etc...
Right now it only sends email in Plain text which is what suited my purposes when I needed it. HTML email is bad.
No plans to do that in the immediate future unless I end up with lots of free time (I wish) or one of my clients needs it converted. But I'll put it on my list to update if I get time.
